I'm using 20# Pline Fluro. All of my bait casters have an internal and a magnetic break. The Cardiff only has an integral brake. 4 pins seemed better but I lost some casting distance.

I do have one question though. What do you guys set your break on? When I had it set on three it's seem to spend too fast. Does anyone set it on four?

I fished it for a few minutes this morning and it didn't feel that big. Thank you for your responses. I'm going to most likely buy another one this weekend.

I just bought a Shimano Cardiff. It's the 400 size. Is this overkill or should I get the 300 instead?

I haven't been able to fish mine much yet but from what I've seen the few minutes I've had it in the water is that it swims great.

I have 2 of the RT Spawn Gill coming today. Can't wait to throw them.

Has anyone used the BPS revolution low profile baitcaster? Im looking to get a low profile reel for my swimbaits and didnt want to spend a ton of money. I was also looking at the BPS Pro Qualifer but the revolution holds more line and is made for swimbaits. Your thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Thank you for the input. Currently I have 2 7'9" Abu Garcia Veritas rated up to 3oz. I know these aren't swimbait rods but it's what I have. Should I get new rods or reels next?

I'm just getting into swim bait fishing. The biggest bait I currently own is a 8" 3 1/4oz savage gear. The rest are 1oz-2 1/2oz. Currently I only own 4 Curado 200I and 1 Chronach CI4. Will these ruin my reels? I would love to purchase a 300 but don't really have the funds. I was thinking on going out and buying a BPS proquilifer reel in a low gear. Will this work?

I am new to the swimbait community. Just wanted to say hi. I just bought two of bass pro shops swim baits and a Livertarget Tilapia Wakebait. I am addicted now. Just ordered a savage gear 6 inch line through trout,Jackall Giron,S-waver,Lucky Craft Real Bluegill,Jackall Swimming Ninja. Currently I have them set up on a Abu Garcia Veritas 7'9" heavy up to 3oz with a Shimano Curado 200i. The other is a Shimano Crucial 7'3" medhvy with a Shimano Curado 200i. Both have Pline 25lbs fluoclear on them. I know these aren't the ideal set ups but this is what I have right now. Once I get heavier duty rods and heavier duty reals I will get bigger swim bait but just starting out I am happy. Is there any suggestions or tips to give a beginner.

Can't wait to get one. Just getting into swim baits.
