Sorry to get a little off subject but, I envy you southerners so much in the winter, I thought I'd rub this in a bit! As most of you... wakes in low light, during the day, anything goes but I prefer to fish deep with a weedless soft bait.

First off I want to send high hopes to Matt and his wife, may she get well soon. Huge shout to Anthony for conducting this whole deal. Huge thanks to all people who donated prizes. Thanks to the SU community for stepping up and buying tickets. This is an awesome place! Congrats to the other winners!

Something else that hasn't been brought up yet, is how and where the sun will cast a shadow. On your weedlines, steep drops, banks, and so on. During high sun or any sun for that matter there will be more shade on a certain side which will usually also give fish more security and comfort. I've found fish can be schooled up in these areas also.

Lots of great info here! I will add that the depth highlight option on the Lakemaster chip is a valuable tool as well. I typically set my deep setting at where the visible weedline ends and + 3 feet . For my home lake this highlights the 12-15 ft range and points, reefs and so on will jump out on the screen. As well you can add shallow highlights.

Nice fish bud! Like others have said, don't fix it if it ain't broke. I will say we've (MN) had good timing with the opener this year. The pre spawners have been chowing! Again, nice work!

Caught a few on my handmade glide today. No plans (yet) to produce but I named it the Seducer or Seduce(her), it is seriously a very seductive glide and am very happy with it. I'm not a swimbait only guy....the jig bite is hot right now but I've been throwing this bait first at each new spot I hit, 2 dinks, and 2 that went 18-18.5 - not Giants but respectable fish for up here. Had one of the bigger fish hit at the boat.... inhaled the entire bait before I could react ..so rad!

Nolan, as a fellow MN fisherman the best advice I can give is follow the bait and fish proven spots. If you don't have "spots" I'd start on main lake points coming from spawning bays, start shallow and work out deeper. The bays should also hold fish. I'm no pro, personally I like fishing deep but that's another topic. Go fish, have fun!
