Thinking about acquiring a bait to troll down only a few feet but move a lot of water. Anyone know of some good wake baits that would fit this application?
I've got a MS Slammer and this seems like a good fit but looking for something that has a larger presence and moves MUCH MORE water in a large trout profile.
Would a 3:16 10" Wake or BAA get subsurface on the troll? Any other thoughts on baits I'm missing?
Is anyone out there doing this or am I the only crazy one?
I'll see if I can track some down in that size range and give it a shot with mend it. Most I've seen don't seem to have any coating over the top at all.
As for the comment on why, not all soft plastic swimbaits are Hudds and not all come with eyes. The picture I posted was off Mike Long's website. Seems like quite a few people out there doing the glass eye modification to them, just like the red gill modification, there must be a good way to do this and keep the eyes attached. The pic of that bait looks pretty clean to me.
That's really what I'm trying to figure out as well. I've done plenty of hard baits where you can just epoxy over them and you're done. Glass eye Hudds come up on ebay all the time, someone must be able to do this with a high level of consistency and durability.
Help me trick out some baits!
I've seen a number of soft swimbaits (like Hudds) posted here and on ebay that have glass eyes added. I've done the red gill modifications, hook magnets, etc but haven't attempted glass eyes. The eye modification really makes them pop and I'm looking for some advice.
Is there a specific type or size of glass eye that works best for this?
Where's a good place to pick some up online?
How do you keep them attached to the bait? Is the eye flat backed, wire backed, or with a post?
Looking for used and beat up Hudds. Missing paint, heavily used, whatever you have laying around that you're willing to part with.
8" or 68 Specials, ROF 5, 12, or 16.
