  1. People always ask me "Why do you fish?". I find myself answering that question multiple times. Some of my favorite moments as a kid were by the stream with my dad, brother and pap. Every year I would eagerly wait for the first day of trout. I always believed I would finally out fish the "Greats" being my family. I remember my dad would always pick out a Repala when we would shop. I had no idea how to use them. The internet wasn't around, but I continued to throw it at the lake when we went. One day I finally got a bite on a skitter prop. I was so shocked and I just stood there. That had me hooked. Many years later I purchased a semi v Jon boat. It was my get away and I threw nothing but a jitterbug. Landing my first bait was a magical experiance. Since then I have been hooked. I believe tricking an animal in its natural habitat keeps me coming back. I enjoy teaching people what I have learned in my 11 years of bass fishing as well. If I can give one tip it's fish the baits you have and thoroughly learn them. No magical bait exist,. To catch fish you must fish and it will start to click. Sorry for my rant but fishermen will understand. Thanks for your time.
  2. For me, the squeak gives me more confidence. This is true when I throw buzzbaits.
  3. This a great looking bait. I'm excited to try it tomorrow
  4. I spent 30 min trying to free my slammer from a log. Closet call yet. Glad I carried a lure retriever. I found out it even works from the bank.
  5. I just wanted to talk about the continued success I've been having on my G2 Shellcracker. It's such a great bait to wake in the mornings before the sun gets high. It is a great learning bait. It took me a few times to get use to it but now I have a lot of confidence in this bait. I read through many of the different topics and all of your advice paid off. Don't go out and buy every bait you see, stick with a few and learn the pros and cons. I now have confidence in my ms slammer as well. I look forward to continuing to learn different baits. Below is my biggest bass so far on a swimbait
  6. I actually just picked up two s wavers. The 160 and 200. I figure this would be a good place to start with glides.
  7. Thanks for the advice. I don't think I have the cash for a deps yep. did any of you have the opportunity to try a Gantrell? I can't decide between a trout or bluegills glide. Between 30-50 is all I would be able to spend. Thanks
  8. I saw you posted specific months for the Hudds. Will they work year round? Glides are baisically giant jerk baits, correct? Thanks for the replies.
  9. I also have a Hudd. It appears to be an 8in version. It didn't come with hooks. From what I'm seeing this a great bait. I don't want to buy lures and never use them. I really want to learn the lures so I can become proficient. I assume the Hudd would be another lure to bump off the bottom? Is the action better on these in comparison to the savage gear?
  10. Thanks for the replies. I will just continue to throw it.
  11. Hello all, Great information on the boards. I started throwing swimbaits and so far caught some on a MS Slammer and a G2 Shellcracker. Today, the bite seemed to stop as the sun got higher. Are they baits for all day? Once the bite stopped I switched to a line thru Savage Gear and nothing happened. I was letting it sink to the bottom and slow rolling it. Is this the technique that you all have found works best? Thanks and I look forward to the responses LS
