Im not sure if this is a sensitive, T.M.I. subject but personally, I am always curious about how we (anglers/swimbapers/champions of feeesh) afford our habit/addiction. I’ve noticed a few posts lately, mostly geared towards the younger generation, stating “ get a really good job” “stay in school” “study hard and eat your Brusselsprouts” all of which I 110% agree with but a few questions linger in my mind: What is a really good job? How does one happen upon one of these mythical good jobs? How much schooling does said job entail? Is college even necessary for a really good job? If you don’t feel comfortable with this question feel free to ignore. I think this is a good subject to touch on, not just for community curiosity but more so for the insight it can provide toward the younger cats who may not know what they want from life yet or better yet what to expect.

The measurement is relative to your perception, as you can see every one has their own opinion on size and length with or without the tail. Another way of looking at it is asking your self how does that tail effect you? Is the tail the only thing drawing the fish in? if you are looking for a shorter profile fish it w/o the tail. What’s an inch or two anyways?

Paint jobs can be grassroots, right? My P.I.C. @gooniewolfe has been applying his talents beyond the canvas/pen&ink. His first two outputs are pictured below. The purple nurple is a so-ill glide (for him self) and the stream maggot is a Sammy(for yours truly.) I’m not a fan of shameless promotion but I’m pretty stoked out on my Sammy and I wanted to share.

I’ve had the best success with 8 trap or figure 8 shore banging with bladed jigs and over sized boot tail trailers, hit a few good ones a couple nights ago on the rad rat after they would short strike or miss, 75% of the time they would commit to the trap. VIVA LA OCHO
