Bgc slim gill becoming a favorite?

I’m in the market for a new net, do the hooks get stuck at all in the netting on this one? I usually don’t have an issue with swimbait hooks on mine but if I fish conventional baits sometimes it becomes problematic so looking to upgrade. Someone suggested fishpond but it’s $200

What sort of retrieve do you typically utilize with it?

Brand new bait, caught one smallmouth and released it. Hooked another smallmouth, fish jumped by boat shaking its head and the bait ripped in half. I think he started putting mesh in the joint of the 170 size recently. I got these second hand about a year ago so there is definitely no mesh in the joint.

Bait recs would be toxic whippersnapper for a wake and bgc 7” Shad glide for a glide bait. Nice fish

Thanks, I’ve seen it and very informative. I was more interested in feedback on the specific issue I mentioned. I may have watched the fish elite one years ago but it’s worth a re watch.

I was fishing it at sunrise so wasn’t getting a great look from a distance, only near the boat and I eventually took it off because I was getting hits from smallmouth who weren’t getting hooked. I will take it out during the day next time and see. When you say tuning, you would bend the line tie just like you would to a crankbait?

I know Cesar suggests 3X hooks for cranking down. I finally got around to fishing mine, wakes nice on a slow retrieve with stock hooks. I got a couple bites on it immediately. I tried cranking down and noticed that it swims well on a slow retrieve but when I go moderate to moderate fast it starts to roll. I’m guessing that’s where the heavier hooks will help stabilize. Just curious how people are fishing theirs, stick with the stock hooks and wake and crank? Then on the crank down just go slow and steady? Or do you go 3X and fish a little faster on the crankdown? Wanted to get some feedback before I start experimenting.

It’s a 200 sized reel. The braking system has been great in my experience.

I went on the site and couldn’t find them under grow design works so I guess they sold out and I’ll have to wait until they hit the US. For the guys that scored one let me know how you like them.

Does the TW cover fit 300 size reels though? They advertised it up to 200 size I believe.

Yup saw that, three rivers tackle and Carolina fishing tackle get them too. I messaged grow design on IG asking when the next drop is. I think I saw on one of their posts they said June so hopefully not long now. Definitely not paying $75 a bait or whatever it is they are going for on secondary market.

Think it's a combination of economy plus recent availability. The people who really wanted them have had multiple chances now to get them. For example I recently picked up a couple joythiefs and a sake bomber TK. If I hadn't been able to do that, I would have grabbed one of the phantom trout TK's. I recently tried to sell a few baits on here that have been popular in the past and got almost zero interest - which I tie to the economy and people cutting back on spending.

I also seem to remember them saying they’d be using the netting on the joint for the 170 on newer/future runs. Did I make that up or is that a thing? I finally got around to fishing mine today and it was getting plenty of love. Problem was I had a smallmouth eat it and it ripped in half at the joint. So would like to get more assuming they made them more durable now with the netting on the joint. Can anyone confirm? And also if you know where to get some new ones that would be helpful too.
