New Lake Today in East Texas - Lake Hawkins and it was HOT 107 degrees but so was the bite. No Wind- Really Late Sun (it popped out when I had enough). August is rough here with no breeze. Had some good ones, and several good followers. Baits Used : 3:16 OG SS Male Gill and HPH 9" Gliding Gizzard did most of the work. Fatback Herring glide mixed in as well. No Thumb Scratchers here these were Palm Scratchers!

Drove 8 hours back and forth over the last two days. Nice typical August Texas weather 102 degrees yesterday and it hit 103 today. The saving factor was the wind today. I mananged over 60lbs in the two days of fishing in the SU Tournament. I had my opprotunity yesterday and squandered it with a DD unbuttoned at the boat.. Hit it hard today no missed fish but some real nice toads, 9 total these were the good ones. All on Glide baits. Today the fish were a little more finicky than yesterday. HPH 9" Gliding Gizzard, Hinkle Shad, and New Deps 250 were the baits for these. Two of these dudes were almost Back to Back 7's one of them ate my lunch. She was some kind of pissed off just one solid muscle and tore me up. Hook set started to reel and nothing she wasn't gonna move, just started stripping drag. She finally came around but a huge battle. Everyfish caught today was in perfect view. Some I never even felt the strike but I could see it, that was pretty awesome.

I have torn up these fish at the same lake my last four trips there. Sunday there was alot of boat traffic so most of the shots are in the bottom of the boat. (Just trying to be cool sliding the fish in so no one see's) and it worked no one had a clue. Lots of followers and lots of takers. OG Deps SS 250 and HPH 9" Gliding Gizzard did most of the work again. Today, Monday I had to go back this morning (Vacation day). The fish won today I was 3 of 8 had a hard time keeping them from jumping in the air shooting me the finger and off they were. And another monster made the big turn and missed The 9" GIZZ Ten ft. from the boat. A MONSTER!

I have been fishing West of DFW because off the floods we have had. I haven't got into any good Black Bass since 5/19 ( because of floods) just Stripers and Hybrids. So I went East to a lake I have herd alot about just never been there. I like this place !!!!! I lost a absolute Pig She broke the Hook off ! She made a fantastic jump so I got to see her WOW. I ended up with my final 5 real close to if not over 25 lbs. Started with the 3:16 Wake Jr. Super Shad because of a good chop on the water 20-25 mph winds on the main lake. Managed 3 solid fish by 9:00am culled two of those later. Moved out 18-20 ft water, fishing the salad after the sun got up good. There was bass busting shad so I broke out the 9" HPH Gliding Gizzard and went to town. Funny thing I had one of the 5lbers hit me jumped got off kept working the bait 20 ft from the hit and bam stuck it again! Persistant Bass for sure. I was done at 12:30 I spent more time driving there and back than I did fishing. Really good to get back in the groove again.
