SDBayBassMan
Go to Home Depot buy a thick spring and stretch it out and then somehow glue it back into that pocket (use gorilla glue or something)
CombatWombat
You can buy the springs at home depot but they come in a box of different sized springs. The box of springs cost about $5.00. If part of the spring is still lodged in the bait, just drill it out, fill it with epoxy and insert the spring. Make sure to hold the spring till it hardens a little bit so the spring would set straight. I have an extra spring I can send to you if you PM me your address. Butch has been so kind to me so I just want to pass on the kindness.
Top Ramen
If the spring you glue in doesn't seem to work as well as the original, you can add more support by putting some soft bait glue on the flat surface of the tail (part that touches the bait) before you screw it down tight. CPBassFishing
No need for a plastic tail! Put a screw eye there and a tiny split ring and a size 6 treble hook and te a crapload of rabbit fur onto it. Looks amazing in the water. JohnMarino
A Spring and Epoxy putty should be easy to do to fix it right. Both things can be found at lowes, home depot etc.. If not, easy way out is get a brand new tail and glue it onto the wood itself. The trick is finding the right glue to do it...
