Heading down to Lynchburg/Charlottesville, VA region in a couple weeks. Anyone in that area have any suggestions on places I can beat the banks while I'm there?

i am not familiar with VA but whenever I am traveling to a different state and plan on fishing, I will do a google search for an anglers guide/fishing guide for that paticular state as most states have them . The guide will usually have all the regulations, launch info, types of fish, size, depth, etc...Then I will look at where I am staying and use google earth to see what lakes are around the area. Google earth will let you explore the lake with out leaving your house. The anglers guide will keep you out of trouble, as you might find a body of water using google earth that is right next to where you are staying but it could be a private lake, you can look it up in the guide to confirm if it is open to the public.

And of course, find the nearest tackle shop and pick their brains for information.

I would suggest Briery Creek as a spot to potentially catch something large from the bank; however, this place is full of snags so I would plan on losing a bait or two since you are going to be fishing from the bank. Might want to check out a map as there are lots of small access points around the lake.
