slammedsdime
Planning a trip in the ocean, does anyone have experience in running a freshwater outboard in the saltwater? Can you do it? What to watch for? What's required before or after the trip? Can you run the boat in saltwater for three days straight? Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!! slammedsdime
Also, any recommendations for the San Diego Bay Area? Where to launch? Where to buy bait, licenses, etc?
SDBayBassMan
You can run a freshwater outboard in saltwater, just make sure that you flush your engine with freshwater immediately after you run it in the salt. What I do immediately after I take my boat out into the salt is run it to one of those do it yourself car washes and thoroughly rinse it with fresh water. My favorite spot to launch in SD is out of Shelter Island. They have a really nice ramp and the parking is free. If you have any questions, shoot me a PM. Good luck.
