TRafferty
I'm looking at buying a triple trout (or a few) and I was wondering if yall preferred cut tail or 3 piece triple trouts?
evilcatfish
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the cut tails are floaters. Are you wanting a topwater bait or sinker?
TRafferty
I think you're right. I'm just wondering which yall prefer.
SpaceGhost
the TT floaters i have aren't really topwater baits...they're more of an xss. also have a 3 pc floater though you don't see them around a lot.
Top Ramen
Start with a three piece slow sink, it's the workhorse version. Get at least an eight inch, preferably the ten.
TRafferty
Ok thanks. Any color preferences? I probably fish the same water as you -- Lady Bird and Lake Austin.

Any of the baitfish colors work fine; I generally throw a kokanee ten inch.
topwater
Triple Trout flat out catch fish, Always have always will. I was told many years ago by a few of CA's top swimbait sticks that the only TT you need is the original 10" dark trout. They will all catch fish but that 10" dark trout is the bait that put the TT where it is today. I own a few TT's and don't fish them as much as I should. I defiantly throw the 10" more than any others, I Should mention that, I haven't caught anything over 6# on it, but It definitely gets bites. I've caught more fish than I can count that were barely bigger than the bait. I believe that the size alone gets the bites. Don't have much to offer other than that. If it were me I'd get the original 10" SS in dark trout, But color is probably the least important part of the equation.
