Try using a baseball instead of the roller. It's harder and more precise timcauliffe

T Dot
Hi Louie- I'm curious as to what change in rod helped you: more moderate action? Longer length? Longer handle? Thanks in advance. Hi Waynem I just saw this. I was already using 8ft rods, but the action was poor. I got bet action rods and also got 8'6ft and 9ft rods. All in all, it was a combination of everything that helped me: better action rod slightly longer handles more effiecient round reel (i find the lowpro reels slow down the lures out of the box) Hope this helps! urbanhick
One side arm cast two years ago blew out my elbow and it hasn't been the same since. The Matt Allen body cast is great if you have the room to do it. Now I throw overhand and try not to bomb every cast like I used to.

wallyc
Wally, what are your normal waters? I'll show you mine if you show me yours Hi Tim, just read this, I've been on vaca doing some house upgrades instead of fishing. I fish mostly central Mass, but, have started to spread out trying new waters. All I've got is a 10 foot pram, but, landed many 6's out of it. Maybe we can get out some time, swap waters. Where are you located ?

Willluvstafish
I have some of the same trouble with my shoulder from years of lifting. Matt Allen does have a great video about this exact thing. To properly cast a big bait you have to almost keep your arms a little stiff and twist your midsection into the cast. I can cast all day with this way. If it's like my problem it could be a shoulder impingement but let a doctor tell you. Best of luck egoodnow
