flaswimbaiter
No, not me, my Wake Jr. I was wading the saltwater flats today fishing for reds and trout and I was walking back to the bank dragging my bait behind me when I heard a huge explosion. At first I thought it was a big redfish, but when I saw the huge tail, I could not believe it. I thumb the spool to get a reaction and it came completely out of the water, it was about a 5 foot shark. I have been fishing these waters for 30 years and never hooked a shark on any artificial, especially a topwater or even heard of it. I knew I didn’t have enough line to keep from getting spooled so it was do or die, I put the pressure on him and he twisted up in the line and broke it. I hate losing baits to hazards and broken lines, but I don’t mind losing this one, it was a thrill of a lifetime to experience something like that, my hands are still shaking. That aside I had some great confidence building today, After many many hour of tossing the baby wake and wake jr in saltwater with only a few slime balls to show for my efforts, today I caught this small seatrout, lost two big ones and missed two others, one of which knock my wake Jr two feet out of the water. I was about to give up on them, now that is all I am going to chuck out there.

oprcsr
Craziness! Shame to lose a bait, but I imagine you will always remember that one.
shinner
holly cow.. what kind of shark.. I would be a nervous wreck wadding there now.. God forbid I notice a submerged log I would be rushing to shore leaving behind a trail that looked like an oil slick.
