Joint Connection Location How To

So I think this might have been covered before but decided to take some pics of the process today while doing a batch of rats.

This works for screw eye to screw eye or screw eye to pin locations.

This way each bait will be matched front and back (or 3 and 4 piece baits too)

Tools/Parts I used: 1” ss nail with the head cut off, 5/64” drill bit with depth marked, straight pick, small flathead screwdriver, cordless drill.

Started by picking the location of the front screw eye, used the pick to make a small hole, used a 5/64” drill bit for pilot holes for the .092 screw eyes, put a piece of tape at the right depth for nail.

Then place the nail point side out, should stick out 1/8” or so.

Take you back section and get it level with the top or bottom of the bait (your choice), and gently push the back section into the nail. You just need it to mark a small mark.

Now regardless of if it’s centered vertically your back section will line right up, no guessing, no trying to line up pencil marks, or having the back being higher or lower than the front.

Then I take the flathead screw driver and make a horizontal mark on the dot, this will give you a flat area to insert the drill bit and don’t have to worry of it going off center trying to drill into the front of the joint.

Then from there you can drill into it if you’re doing a screw eye to screw eye connection, or if you’re doing a screw eye to pin connection you’ll have a starting point for the dremel or your preferred method.

You’ll do have perfectly lined up locations for your hardware.

Hope this may help someone out with building.

Yeah I hear that! Once I was shown that tip it was a game changer and also made me feel a lil dumb for not thinking of it on my own.
