Figured I’d share this here for the people that don’t have IG. every year Rhode Island takes fishing submission photos for the annual RI Freshwater Fishing Regulations guide book. I had submitted maybe 20-25 pics of Nick (14) Dylan (8) and myself from last years fishing excursions. They’re my step kids but their real dad is a huge pos and doesn’t do much with them when he has them. Their grandfather and their uncles are all avid freshwater fishermen as well. they don’t tell you if you made it in so we’ve been patiently waiting for the book to come out at the local shops well Dylan made it in! Picture was from one of the fall trips where I he caught 4 species in one day and pretty good sized black crappie. I picked up a couple copies on Friday and when he got from school I showed him and the kid lit up! He was so happy, also he was probably more happy that he got in and not his brother. I’ll frame up a copy for his room this week and we’ll keep a copy for prosperity. Him and his older brother now both are all about going fishing this year, Nick is excited for night trips and throwing some swimbaits so looking forward to fostering this new love of the sport we all enjoy. take your kids fishing! (That was the slogan for the shop I grew up around in my town and I always loved it)

@BigOPigSlayer The traveling 316 post reminds me of an idea I had a couple of years back, The Fastest 48. Not sure there’d be enough interest, maybe? Same concept as the traveling 316, but limited to one participant per state. The goal isn’t volume or size, rather completion. Receive bait, catch, photograph, release, ship. It’d take some planning, starting and ending in the southern states, but I thought it’d be an interesting challenge and cool to complete. A bait that’s bagged one in all 48. Say the biggest fish keeps the bait or maybe some sorta prize for recognition. I don’t know, just a way to shake up the traveling bait.

The stoke was real 4/2/24. I had went to the lake hoping for my third fish over seven pounds this year. My goal has always been to break PB’s but the last three years I have been trying to catch three bass over 7#’s in a season. My last trip, in two days I had broke three PB’s. I caught a 7.8 the first day and a 7.9 the second, beating my best largemouth twice. I also got my best bag ever of 30.25 pounds on the second day. I returned a week later and the prize was in my sights. I had high hopes this week but we all know how that can work out. Today however was my day. Half a dozen casts in I had my third 7, a nice chunky 7.25, making the goal I had set. I was very happy. I took a quick break. Realizing all that was left for me was another PB or maybe that DD. I didn’t care, I was enjoying the moment. I got back to fishing because that’s what I love to do. 1 hour later……11# 8oz. Elusive beast Thanks to all of you who inspired me to grind for these fish. I have learned so much. Set your own goals and pursue them. I’m setting new goals as we speak and look forward to hearing about all your catches/ and upcoming adventures. That’s what it’s all about brother, building them memories. It’s great you get to share those moments. He definitely is all smiles that’s for sure. Imagine what them smiles the boys will have when they hammer a giant night time bass with you! Might even get you to smile. LOL.

It ranges from $5-$10 per inch depending on how experience the painter is. If you want a trout pattern, then I highly recommend you go through Garretts customs. Both my lures turned out great. At the time he only charged $35 for any full paint job. Now he's charging by per inch.

Not fashionable at only $16, the strike king megadawg gets the job done. I silence the rattles with some superglue, swap to ST 36s and add a little weight to them. Totally not painful when I yeet it into the riprap.
