  1. Cool it should be interesting
  2. ok just did some looking into the soft tool as ive never fished it. It is a very complex bait and i seriously doubt messing with the lip is going to give you what you want. But hey go for it but it looks like it would be an absolute pain to try to get the lip out without damaging something on the bait. I may be wrong but it looks like the lip is internally attached. You may try slitting the plastic and doing some "exploring". Also it is possible to bend lexan with the right tools but it is involved and if you have never done it before practice on scrap first. Just my two cents.
  3. are you trying to change the bill angle or shape?
  4. Use a dremmel and grind it out, it may not just be glued in, there may be tiny posts through the bill that would have to be broken in order to get it out. I know some guys that do that on cranks and you arent getting the lips out unless you cut it out. Something else you can try is using epoxy putty and adding to the lip and sanding till you get the right shape, then trace it out for a template then take the whole thing out and use your template to make the modified bill. Just be easy with the epoxy putty because it is more dense/heavier than lexan so it could throw the weight off a little
  5. just use the fishermans scale, estimated weight plus 2 pounds. lol it is free
  6. Swimabaiting= Converting non believers and breaking drop shot dependancy across the country! Thats my mission By the way what is up with all these "tournament" series swimbaits? If i wanted to fish a 4" bait id buy a jig
  7. I do that all the time with my humminbird si. Just have stuck any over 7 doing it. One day though it is going to pay off
  8. I akin swimbaiting to trophy deer hunting. There are thousands of people who will shoot anything that moves but very few target the trophy because it takes an intense patience that most dont have to get the big one. There are so many ways to catch fish but most will not catch big fish consistently like a swimbait.
  9. My goal is to throw nothing but 10" plus baits. I don't care if I get skunked for 3 months! All my tackle has been removed from my boat other than big baits.
  10. I get the same thing down here...like "are you going out for sharks" I just laugh and say if you wanna catch grown ass fish quit fishing baby baits.
  11. Thanks for the honest opinion Mickey. Ill MAN UP and do some more design on the shad...I'm working on a joint idea that would be great if it works but it is going to be a SOB to make. As far as the carving goes I cant compare it with a bull shad or a 3:16 for that matter as I dont own either. I just used a gizzard shad photo as a guide. I will say this though I am proud to have made a bait that swims correctly, is durable and catches fish (Biggest spot 5.2# and Biggest largemouth 6.6#). Also making piano hinges is not easy and casting them is even more of a "Not Allowed". My trout and bass swimbait are unique (done some mods to them since i posted pics in the grass roots section) and when I get them all wrapped up ill post some pics and see what you guess think.
