  1. Bass are predators. The whole match the hatch thing is a fly fishing term.
  2. Nice topic. Got me thinking. Not for sure where the swimbait first came into the picture. But I do remember 04 - 05 or so walking the bank at my local fishing hole tossing my shinny new dark trout slammer. No expectations just anticipation . Thank you. Good memories.
  3. I wanted to say " If you don't already know whats inside a huddleston than you shouldn't be here. " But that would be mean. So I wont say it .

That's funny $#*^ right there. . Made me smile.
  5. Love the pics. But you Gotta stop. 1 - Your making it look to easy for all these new guys. 2 - You giving me an inferiority complex.
  6. Couldn't have said it better my self. Gonna add my own 2 pennies. Stoked for you to have a nice rod reel and a few nice baits. That helps for sure. Do you think the fish care? Baits are like tools. Use them where they fit in YOUR water or YOUR situation. The 8" hudd is a sweet bait, so is the SS. I would not recommend either one for a novice swimbaiter. Once you have a few spots dialed in, those baits will really shine. Both baits can help you to find those spots and how fish relate to those spots. With out a solid fishing background or solid knowledge of a specific water, I would recommend starting out with a few different baits. 7" slammer, small rising son, smaller 6-7" osprey are a few good ones. Do some searching on here and you will find plenty of good information on baits. Swimbait fishing is still just fishing. If you keep at it you WILL figure it out. Keep fishing and when your not fishing search this site. Nothing beats time on the water.
  7. I am so sorry for you. I would love to tell you it will be all OK. It might not be. I'm sorry for the pain you feel.
  8. I've been fishing the curado for 20+ years. Not sure why but I've been looking at the new Luna. Just curious as to why you choose one 300 over the other.

Nice. Crazy how hard those little suckers can fight with those big fins.
  10. keep boiling them if you thnk it helps but it doesn't.
  11. Those are some good ones.
  12. That's a hard one for me. Hands down I feel like the 8" bait will get more bites than the 6" bait. With that said I have been in more than one situation where the 6" bait got the bigger bite. I'm the self proclaimed master at catching 3#ers on the 8" hudds. The 8" rof 5 is my spinnerbait. slow and low. BAHM 3#er. I guess to awnser your question I would have to say the 8" 5 or 12, color doesn't matter.
  13. Ive never fished a 2x. I'd guess it would crank down a little better than the original. Some slammers just crank down better than others. Just like some wake better than others. Love cranking the slammers. How do you like that Deep Jack?
  14. Sure do miss those ols school 6.5" suspending Charlies.
  15. + 1 on the Okumas, Guide Select. I would recommend the 7'11" for most situations but the 7'6" is a good rod aswell. I fished the 7'6" for years befor I got the 7'11". The 7'11" heavy action guide select is a good all around swimbait for med size baits on 20-30# line. As for baits don't over do it. Pick a few proven baits and start fishing. 7" slammer is a great bait for a beginner. Small bottom hook rising son is another good one. Both baits are relatively inexpensive, pretty easy to figure out and get lots of bites. If your looking at the smaller baits you would probably be better off with the Med. Heavy. rod.
  16. you wish all the luck to them but aren't willing to answer their questions to help them succeed? I know its annoying sometimes when the same questions are constantly asked but what some guys here don't understand is why not ask questions for rod, reel, and line recommendations? Most guys especially kids like me cant afford to just buy to try them out because we simply cant afford it. I'm not trying to start ish with anyone but i'm just saying help the newbies out because you know you were in their shoes at one point and wish you had a site like this to let you learn about how you need to properly fish baits and good areas or swimbaits to start with. I personally like the idea of the NOOB thread, why not? I am totally willing to answer questions. I love sharing fishing stories and fishing knowledge. Just wish I could share it with " fisherman " not the guy looking for the majic bullet or concerned with the lable on his bait, rod, or hat. Its not about the Loomis/LDC/GGR/Crucial/Okuma+ , 25# big game/Pline/Maxima, Power pro, Huddleston Delux/ Baitsmith Magnum/Rising Son/ Lunker Punker/wake jr. Blah Blah Blah. There's more to it than that.
  17. Don't care at all if there are new people throwing swimbaits. I wish all the luck to them.
  18. Lurk all you want. Please... Lurk.
  19. I first joined this site cause it was a few (50 ish) SERIOUS swimbait fisherman. A place where SERIOUS swimbait guys could talk. Lots of good information was shared. Now it seems to be over run with stupid questions and answers. Most of the crazy good sticks are gone. Really??? Do some searches. Buy a few baits and go fishing. GO FISHING & THEN FISH SOME MORE. You cant learn it all "online". kinda bummed the direction this site has gone. Don't get me wrong I want to help. (guess that's why I'm still here.) Just don't come on here and ask Stupid questions. If you have been fishing befor you should be able to awnser most of those questions your self. Reading the preview of this post I realize how it sounds. That's how I feel. This site was not intended for the new swimbait fisherman.
