Rising Son
-
Big for smallmouth standards not swimbait standards. 7" slammer, wake jr. ,lunker punker jr. Are all perfect for that kind of fishing.
-
Big topwaters over deep ponits.

#1 What does this have to do with swimbaits? #2 What was the lesson? -

I need help with deep stained water swimbait fishing
SethB replied to Charlestonfisherman's topic in The Underground
If i couldnt get bit on a swimbait and knew people were catching 9#ers on worms. Think id fish a worm. I could care less what i catch a big fish on i just like catching big fish. I dont fish stained water very often but i have had success #1 fishing big plastic worms and cranking slammers and working slammers and wake jrs real hard on the surface with 5-10 second pause then work real hard again 10-20 second pause then slow steady wake back to boat or bank. -
You can transport a bag limit of legal size game fish on the body of water from which they were caught. But to transport them anywhere else they have to be dead.
-
In CA it is illegal to possess any game fish or animal without the proper CDFW permit. And they aren't jusy handing them out.

Twich, twich twich, pause. Works pretty well for me.

Wait what? I decided to stop fishing and drink til i barf. Think you might have the wrong site.

Definitely not ideal but should be fine for the smaller stuff. I have one spooled 40# braid that i have been using for big crankbaits, spinnerbaits up to 1 1/4oz. No issues yet. Imo it will work but if your gonna get serious you will need to upgrade to something with a little more line capacity.

I use 1/16 -3/23 tungsten nail weights. they are easy to move around just don't push them all the way in until you get the fall you like. once you have the right location and angle push them just below the surface. they will stay put fine and still easily removed with pliers. adding nail weights to the zero you can do some neat things add the weights towards the anal fin and on a semi tight line you can make the bait nose up to the surface and slowly back down and repeat like a trout nipping the surface. or add one between the foam and skin just in front of the gills and towards the mouth and it will swim nose down and look like a trout feeding on the bottom in the shallows. those are fun to play with and sure would work in the right situation. But best for me has been one 3/32 vertical just behind the foam from bottom up. gets bit pretty good in choppy water fished just below the chop or right up in the chop up shallow on wind blown points. Zeros gotta be in clear water though.
