  1. I love it! You will always have confidence in that approach now. Great job.
  2. Turns out when its post spawn and post frontal..........fishing kinda sucks maybe monday
  3. Awesome fish! There are so many nooks and crannys thst can hold a fish. That is a solid plan once you have hit the main stuff or are in route. Great job
  4. Dont know If I can do em justice, but I will try. Thanks to Mickey, Rina, my best friend Rod and all of you guys. At one time I was over fishing because of all the BS that went with it. You guys make it cool and I enjoy it again.
  5. So I was fishing last sunday and noticed the carp were up spawning. While I was cruising around the weed lines, I came across a school of 8-12 inch carp. They were all balled up and seemed to me like they would make good forage for a 10 pound bass. That night I ordered a couple baits in the typical summer time patterns that I like to use, baby bass, and bluegill. I was looking for a larger profile bait that I could pitch into weed and grass lines and let it slowly sink and leave it in the strike zone for a long time without it being a totally weedless bait. If I woulda seen a carp colored bait I would have got that also. Much to my delight this week I was able to get in on the OG wake and got a matte sucka to mimic the carp I was seeing. So my soft baits arrived today and I got a little surprise.....an extra bait in Carp color! Mickey, how did you know I would use this color? I cannot thank you enough and tomorrow morning this bait is gonna be in the water. Hopefully I can find a fish big enough to eat this bad boy and I can put it into the boat. I am on a hell of a down streak right now, but its gonna turn soon. Thanks again Bro! Hell Yeah!
  6. Mickey, I promise this bait will never be sold, traded or any other ish. I will fish the living hell out of this thing. Thanks Bro!
  7. Ill take a matte sucka! Thank you sooo much Mickey. I will make that bait a star
  8. Its good for everyone. I spent 3-4 days a week fishing there in 2009 and there was a ton of trout, tons of shad, tons of bluegills. I dont think the lake could have been any healthier. It was almost like it had too much forage. Most places you wait for the trout plants to perk the bite, I kinda liked it to get away from the plants because if a bass can sit on a spot and in 2 minutes a trout swims by it makes it little tough to trick em into a fake one. And you know what? The biggest legit fish that came out of that place that year was a 16.12 on a fly go figure. Maybe we start here with the quest to get our stockings back. They have alot less lakes to stock and we dont nearly get the amounts of trout in the other lakes to make up for it. Here in Ventura county we dont have any stockings now. We used to have piru, casitas and all our streams. Now none of those get fish. Where are all those fish going? Upper castaic should at least be getting alot more fish because it could make that place an awesome fishery. But it actually gets less trout now. Sorry, but it really p$$$3$ me off.
  9. Oh no you didnt. lol Im sorry couldnt help myself. My answer wasnt very helpful. Not much you can do about fish when they arent in a feeding mode. If they are striking it to eat it, they are gonna mash its head. Remember they are the supreme predator in their neck of the woods. When they wanna eat something they bite it to kill. When they are on the beds they bite it to run it off. Its so fun to watch worm guys work over a flat during the spawn and keep gettin bit but missing fish. They say "dude, I had 40 bites today" caught 5? Wtf? Keep chuckin brother
  10. Exactly. Probably bed fish whacking at it. Go on the other site. They can teach you there how to catch them
  11. Hell yeah! Thats this fish here. She went just a shade over 12. It was my first fish outta the lagoon when I had just started fishing. Got her on a spot I knew nothing about. I had to give a guy on shore some room, so I fired in from outside not sure of the depth or structure and about half way back I got whacked but didn't swing. I thought it might have been a rock. So I slid over the spot saw the fish on the graph, slide inside into 5ft of water, fired out into 40 and she ate it in 25ft. Holy crap, I was soooo stoked. I didnt really know what big fish looked like and I thought this fish was at least 14 the dude fishing from shore was like wtf! How big is that fish? I told him 14 pounds! Pulled out the scale and it started registering 10 then 11, 11.7, and settled at 12.1. I was kinda shocked. Just a short fat beautiful fish outta that lagoon. Those days are gone now. That place hasnt seen a trout plant in 2 years and those fish are really showing it. Doubt I will ever catch a teener outta that place anytime soon. I used to sit in line knowing the next bite would be a teener. That place was stacked with soo many awesome fish. Now its a dump. Really sad to see what has happened. Lets hope this next year they get our trout stockings back into our trophy fisheries.
  12. You did nothing wrong brother. You did it perfect. I always crap my pants and swing too soon. Gotta wait for the bite. How many more times did you throw at that fish?
  13. No twitch, no jerk, just kill it. Its pretty cool how casual they eat it.
  14. Was fishing on sunday and saw an application for a couple of mickeys soft baits, so I ordered em up last night. Pretty excited. Gotta support the pirate ship. Still waiting for the fish to get off beds and outta post spawn funk. Watched a guy spend 3 hrs trying to catch a 4 pound bed fish. Then a guy came by an hour later in a float tube and caught it again pretty challenging For me, I don't get to fish as much as I used to. So I have been at the mercy of fishing weekends almost alway was fighting unfishable wind conditions followed by low to mid 50 water temps. Then a sudden spike from mid 50's to 70's in just a few weeks. Post spawn usually is pretty good times, but water temps are gettin in mid 70's now. No more trout plants this year. So not sure how its gonna go. Oh well got me some new baits coming for the summer bite. Hopefully a big bite is in the fold this long weekend. Good luck everyone
  15. Ha! Thanks Brother! My quote is with Hunter S. Thompson! Love that. Im an sure if Someone really needed a bait Mickey would take that into consideration and hook em up. But I am sure he would do his homework and know this person was gonna use the bait to fish it and not flip it on ebay or some ish like that. Isnt there a waitlist?
  16. Unfortunate... Have you sent Mickey an email? I feel that three year's is way too much to be waiting for a release. Maybe Mickey should take your situation into consideration when thinking about these releases. Just my opinion, and I could care less if anybody has something to say about it. I work in the service industry, and nobody would wait three years for a meal. And if they did, I'd make sure it was the best meal they ever ate. Straight up. Late. I love how the baits are released. It creates a great anticipation of whats to come. Its is also a very intelligent business model. Basically all the baits are sold before they are ever built. You have to remember that Mr. Ellis is in a business to support his family and the employees that work for him. I dont have any hard baits, but over the last couple months have developed a yearning to try em out. So here I sit F5'n like a MoFO sure I could buy one on ebay, but I could also bed fish. I rather get em the hard rewarding way. Good luck everyone
  17. The bite was a slurp it down right after a couple twitches. It was awesome. Hell yeah! Congrats
