  1. 300 for 20lb line. 400 for 25 and up. You can always get by on a 300 but when your throwing big baits and catching fish at the end o the cast a 300 won't do
  2. older 401 and 301 sold! the newer 401 is still available
  3. Photobucket sucks. DM your number for pictures. Taking reasonable offers.

    Slammer Repaint

killed it. Now lets see a dark trout please!
  6. can anyone confirm for certain (they have an upgraded handle on their tranx) that any of these mentioned aftermarket handle fit? I would like to know for sure before I buy something.
  7. I have several trips in on mine and several fish on it (green bass). The real is very refined and very smooth out of the box. I was concerned that it wouldn't cast as well since it has a sealed system, however I found that it cast as good or better than any other reel. You do need to run 3 break blocks turned on. I am very happy with the retrieve ratio on this reel. it is slow enough to effectively fish wakes and soft baits but just fast enough to be able to fish glides without having to work to hard. As for the durability, time will tell. Ive got the 401 size coming to use for stripers and really big baits.
  8. Most swimbaits are not ideal for the surf. The reason being is you need to be able to cast some distance into a strong head wind and the bait needs to be able to fish through the rough surf. Flat calm surf conditions are rare up here but when you get them most stuff will work. Traditional surf lures are going to catch you a lot more fish, however if you have to throw swimbatis, Hudds, triple trout, and MS. Slammers are good bets because they cast decent (but cast poor compared to surf plugs). Topwater like Punkers again are not going to cast as good as a pencil popper and are hard to work through big waves. Give it a go. when the bite is hot it doesn't matter what you through if you can reach um. I have had some epic nights with wide open bites and fish on every cast from 8 to 25lbs.
  9. better us a 9-10' rod that has a big bend
  10. if you don't want to buy it no need to comment man. Good day
  11. Thanks for the input. Most good glides I have experience with will fail somewhere between 12-22 good 20lb class and up stripers. Crappy baits will fail much sooner. Some as few as one 20lb class and the hinge screw eyes arebent and the bait won't swim good anymore.
  12. that wasn't my question. Any bait should be able to stick a handful of big fish, the question is how many can you catch on one bait before it fails? That's what really matters when it comes to durability. I don't doubt 3:16 and know from experience that his stuff holds up well.
  13. the question is how many fish like that can you catch before you wear the bait out or break it?
  14. Counter balanced. It's factory/came on the reel
  15. 5:1 gearing Perfect for slow rolling soft baits or wakes. Bought this reel new last summer. Fished it for a few months while I was recovering from some tendentious. Selling it now as I fish lefties. 9.8/10 cosmetically still 10/10 mechanical. Note that this model does not have a cast control. I have not had any issues with back lash. Asking $225 TYD paypal only. No Trades!
  16. your asking for trouble fishing 25 on a 300 size reel. Too much or an impact on inches per crank with an empty spool. Better off with a 400 size than loosing the fish of a life time.
  17. they are a taller reel than the curado/lexa 300
  18. So I got to check out the 300 Tranx at the ISE yesterday. Your going to want to pay attention to this reel. It is a complete new design top to bottom. It's profile and balance are different from the curado and lexa. While I did not get to see the 400 size, I understand it is much smaller than the lexa 400 and abu toro beast reels. the reel will come in both right and left and in two gear ratios. Feel free to add your personal reviews to this thread as this reel is released.
