  1. I'll just add one other rod to the mix. Taking into the account the general required specs you mentioned in your first post Haunted, I'd really take a look at the Megabass F10-76XBJ "Super Red Demon". It has a very sensitive blank (from my limited experience throwing it) and has a very wide lure range. We threw a bunch of different types of lures including non-swimbaits like a jig, spinnerbait, and Jerkbaits (like the tackletour tests). Though not ideal for every lure, it was able to handle all of them with decent proficiency. I absolutely loved this rod for my go to Wake Jr, but will do well with Hudds and moving treble baited swimbaits as well. Though its a "JDM" rod, now that Megabass USA honors the warranties in the US for these, its definitely something to consider if you aren't flinching at a $500+price tag. My only gripe is the short handle length. It's great for baits where you have to impart action like walking a punker or surface slapping wake baits but guys who are "Tuck and Crankers" this handle will definitely not do. Just my$.02 *forgot to add I've also thrown the 250ss on it and it does fine with it.
  2. Slide, is that an 86 in the background? Lookin sweet everyone. Love seeing everyone's different tastes coming out on their combo choices. Keepem coming!
  3. Damn! Sweet fish! Congrats and Great job!
  4. Congrats! Another fun Giveaway! Thanks SU and BB!
  5. I have them and use them. I have them on my topwater baits like my Wake Jr. I think that they are technically a 3X hook but correct me if I'm wrong. The shanks are straight like an owner (6) series hook. I think they only come in a 3x version so if weighting is important on your bait for sinkers and suspenders, then you will have to consider that. I think that they are a hair heavier than a 2x hook but much lighter than a traditional 3x due to the "Zowire" material they use. This Zowire material gives the points a super sharp edge that stick very well because of its hardness. The only thing I did notice is that since the material is harder, they tend to snap/break as opposed to bend out. Hope that helps.

    DVL???

you can pay a guide and not stick a thing, like ltrain and i did. can you do THAT in MN? We paid the guide for you to reel in a fish he stuck on a senko so it wasnt a total skunk. We did see some toads in the water and I had one kiss my Slide Swimmer. But I acted too much like "JoJo the Idiot Circus Boy" to stick it to her. We soon found out afterwards, it was a nice day on the water for our guide to scope out/prefish the Lake for a Tourney that was there the next day. But to answer the question: Are there good fish in there? YES, there are solid Toads there (I've seen them). Are they easy to catch? HELL NO. But where's the fun if it was easy?

  16. My dad understands Japanese and I had him watch a Japanese fishing DVD with me to help translate.... Dad: "I have no idea half of what they are saying because I think they are speaking English but I don't know what the words are!! "He keeps saying "Set Toh". I think that's English." Me: "That means SET the HOOK!" lol
  17. I was just going to comment there ^^^ Kanji = Chinese characters So, "technically" the OP wasn't 100% wrong. Also, a LOT of good Japanese lures are NOT made in Japan (I'm sure everyone is surprised ) Can't speak for the slideswimmers though. Heck, a lot of Japanese reels aren't event made in Japan. If we call ignorance, then it's another opportunity to educate yourself on something new. Oh and half of Japanese Bass fishing vocabulary is essentially English words phonetically spelled in Japanese. "Suh lie Doh Suh weem ahh"
  18. Now you 're gonna have all these guys fishing you all the time. All you gotta do is look at your rod. That's awesome!
