  1. I'm looking into some heavy duty surf bags to find one that can hold my collection and be functional to carry for shore fishing or boat. They primarily use tubes and this makes it convenient because you can place most baits inside individual tubes and then load the appropriate bag with the tubes that most likely meet the days conditions or water. For soft baits one cod create a hanger system within each tube. Storing and transporting big lures is not new and one cod also look to what trollers carry with their flexible roll up sleeves that can be placed in special bags for transport. The saltwater arena may provide some ideas where throwing big baits has been going on since the turn of the previous century.
  2. Bass eat lures that don't look like anything real so why wouldn't they eat what looks like them? If it fits then it's going down the gullet.
  3. Consider going back and reading what I wrote. Never said you shouldn't. Just that I don see the value in it. On point to the question the OP asked. Benefit? I see none. Buy what you want or can afford and pimp it out if you want. I spen $200 on a CF handle for asthetic reasons only and zero benefit. My choice. If I must be labeled an elitis then so be it. I buy what I want so should everyone else. Poll it don't pimp I I don't care. I just don't see benefit in it. Specially if one is tight on cash and trying to get the most bank for the buck. Buy a used TE and have it flushed and probably cheaper than pimping a Lexus. BTW, I bought one and tried it and it wasn't for me. That's not me being an elitis but just my view.
  4. Just go away dude!! We are all childish and can't play nice. If you don't like it, take your keyboard diarrhea to all your other forums that enjoy it!! He should just be not allowed in this site, Garriga aka richard cranium Who?
  5. Just go away dude!! We are all childish and can't play nice. If you don't like it, take your keyboard diarrhea to all your other forums that enjoy it!! Not all. Just the the few that tend to do the same crap over and over again. Just cause others tolerate it doesn't mean they accept it. Unless this is your sandbox, you don't get to tell me or anyone to go away. You may think you have that authority but you don't. Apparently you have a dislike for one to stand up for themselves or lack the ability to comprehend what is happening. Forums exist to exchange information and not to be ruled by a bunch of bullies intent on others doing as they do. Have your opinion and let others do the same. What part of that message I'm sending do you not understand? Want to say you don't agree then go for it. Want to attack me personally and that ain't happening. I stand my ground. Accept it or not. I don't care but I also don't go away.
  6. My reply and the first to this thread. And already rebuffed by a PROFESSIONAL. I realize that you are entitled to an opinion, what you fail to realize is that your opinion is incorrect. What professional? Why would a professional be needed to prove I'm right or wrong? Go on a football filed and do the test I requested. There's all the proof any will need. Not getting 80 yards or material performance gain from super tuning ehat is asked to chuck 2oz plus baits. My opinion. Right or wrong. You don't have t accept it. You haven't been asked to. Get it?
  7. I didn't start anything. Having an unpopular opinion is not grounds for getting a bunch of BS. It's an opinion on an idea and not a person. I didn't make this personal and I didn't start this crap or the kind with the DNA to end it. Be nice or I won't.
  8. The stupidity and childish attacks begin.
  9. My reply and the first to this thread.
  10. You do understand that another coming to my defense opens them up to the same childish BS I'm dealing with? Why would one put themselves into that mess? Also, it is the one's that complain that make the most noise. As if they must be heard. No, you don't come out of the wood work to protect another like minded friend. That's childish and so grammar school. The appropriate thing is to let your like minded friend fight their own battles, if that's what they wish to do. Specially if they didn't ask for your recruit. Grow up and act like a man. Men don't act like childish teenage girls drawing lines in the sand over who's likstick is the reddest. Men respect other's opinions and learn to debate the merits with facts or good opinions of their own versus going on a public forum and calling another out mob style. Men do what I'm doing. Standing up for themselves without the need for a peanut gallery. Respect my opinions and I'll do the same. Go Romper room on me and I'll child up like the best of them. Except I don't quit. I don't back down. I don't stop what I didn't start. I was the first to respond to the OP and there was zero need for the crap I got or the band wagon mentality that followed. I will not tolerate this stupidity. I have the right to express my opinion and if it is negative towards your friend then they can say what they like in defense. Stay out of it. BTW, is this not a forum that refuses sponsorship because they don't want to be censored as is on the other one? Is there not some asinine thread about TW because the community refuses to have sponsors and yet you and your buddies have the audacity to question my opinion on a topic that I feel has zero place with swimbaits? Sounds rather hypocritical and lame. We can end this now or go on forever. I don't care but I will not deal with anymore childish garbage. If you or another feels the need to test me then don't complain when I respond as I just did. I give what I get and then some. Be nice. Try it.
  11. Get you a drink? Here's an idea. Jump in the other guys stadium. Lots to drink.
  12. Crap from this dude? There's a big Internet and I'm all over it. Seems only a few on this forum and the Nation seem to think I'm full of crap. And it seems to be the same group in both. Should tell you something. Here's an I opener. We all have opinions and yet when one deviates from the vocal group they speak crap. The fact is others often don't care to hear anything different. Do you see it yet? You think super tuning Swimbait reels intended to chuck 2oz plus baits require work than go of it. As stated previously. I don't. Think a Z needs to be smoother than it already is than go polish the gears. I don't. How exactly does one take one of the smoothest reels ever made and stated by many who have owned some of the smooth ever made and justify it needs to be smoother? Makes absolutely no sense but if that's your thing than go for it. Not me. If you aren't trying to convert a Cardiff to a TE than what's the point? Why not just buy a TE? Can't afford a TE than just say this is your budget approach to getting the best you can. I'm good with that. We afford what we can and then we enjoy it as best we can. I wish I could afford a Ferrari but since I can't I'm not going to blue print the engine to make it sound like one. My views and my opinions. As I often say, you don't have to agree with it and no one is asking you to but when others come on a public forum and attack me for having one then I must lash out and be brutally honest. Fair is fair. Don't want to get smacked then don't start slapping. Respect what another saids and leave it at that or debate the merits like grown ups without the dumb digs and rediculous comments. It's bad manners and shouldn't be tolerated. Won't be by me. Now, we can be civil or I can be brutally honest. Don't care one way or the other. Oh, before I forget, I don't hover in the sidelines. I speak my mind and I have no qualms about it nor do I wait for a band wagon to jump on. I'm not led by others or encouraged by their actions. I'm my own leader with my own thought process and I don't care if I'm the only one sitting in my cart. I don't coward from stupidity or get bullied into being quiet. Sooner that's understood the sooner we can get along or not and have productive discussions to better the sport. Just remember its an opinion and we're all free to have them so attack the opinion and not the one delivering it. Besides, it's just a fish. This wasn't just directed at you but all who feel the need to ride me or challenge my every move. I don't back down and I don't stay quiet. With me you get what you give, exponentially. Try being nice for a while and see how nice I can be. Otherwise, expect more super tune ish.
  13. You guys are unbelievable. Still with this crap. Sound like a bunch of bickering old envious woman who can't afford the real thing so you cover it in vinyl. Here's an idea. Buy something good and you don't have to pimp it to make it feel real. I tried to be civil but screw that. You guys want to play. Let's play. Luckily for you guys mommy isn't far away and can calm the nerves after getting your feelings smacked. BTW, do you even know what an elitis is? The other emotional break down probably didn't and I doubt you do. Bought a new reel to get pimped or someone's no longer wanted and just got upgraded. Buy a 316 and sell a 3:16. Dam black market is a wannabe eBay. At least learn how to do it right. And what's the deal with all the peanut gallery out of the wood work garbage just because one of your fallen might have been scraped. Don't you guys know how to stand up for oneself or must there always be the typical tampon party must unite. Seriously, what in God's good name could I have possibly done that requires all this dumb abuse? What, me telling the truth that super tuning is a scam. Want a nice reel, go save up and buy one. Can't afford it, too bad. We don't all get what we want. No way does changing bearings and polishing a Cardiff turn it into a TE. No way. Want a TE then go buy it. Have a TE, don't sell me some crap that tuning it is going to make it better. Only in the mind of the one who wants to believe that. I have Zs and Pluton that were upgraded with better spool bearings and they didn't get better. Smooth enough as is so why would I super tune it. The tuner himself told me I was nuts for even considering it. There's another forum that only deals in tackle. These guys are tackle junkies to the max and they will tell you not to tune a Z or TE and once you get past a 1/4 oz there's no benefit in doing anything other than to pamper one's ego so they can go around saying they tuned their reels. Sound like guys that have no clue what you are talking about or the guy who buys a fake Rolex so he can look cool. Seriously. I tuned my reel therefore I'm so cool. Get a reality check. You fish. That's it. Not hitting home runs or scoring touch downs to impress the cheer leaders. You fish. That's it. And so do I but I don't go around saying I tuned my reel. Look at me. Or post pic after pic to prove I know how to catch a fish. It's a fish. Not brain surgery. Get it. Oh, this was directed at everyone that had a dumb comment to make today. Let me be clear. Everyone who made a dumb comment today. Want to play like children. Then be treated like children. Now go play with your fish while the elitis go to sleep knowing their garage is full of reels not in need of tuning. They are real reels and not soon to be pimped out wannabees. Nighty night. I'll read all the dumb replies in the morning while I'm taking my am crap. Might as well mix new crap with old crap I'm removing. Seem appropriate. Oh, wait I'm going to tune my butt so it craps smoothly and launches them 80 yards into the abys without a single strain or extra effort on my part. We can call it super tune ish.
  14. Isn't "communicate like adults," which implies that everyone who responded here is a child, a personal attack or "dig" ? You're a funny dude, but more like that clown Pesci was referring to and less "funny haha" I embrace my immaturity and assure you it will outlast your thinly veiled elitist BS. No. Not the community but who I was quoting. Let me be clear. Only who I was quoting. Although, you do need to consider your own reaction and perhaps it could have been done in a less hostile approach. I like Joe Pesci and I saw the movie you're eluding to. I'm not trying to be funny in any way and merely trying to provide some experience and holefully gather some advise from those who have done what I haven't. That's all. Having said that, perhps understanding what was said or asking for clarification is a better coarse taken versus assuming the worse. Problem with the Internet is lack of facial expressions to fully understand one's tone or direction. Perhaps in the future you will just ask me what I meant or PM for clarification. If I come a across as an elitis than please understand that is not my intention and perhaps just how I talk.
  15. Considering I was the first to respond. Based on the argument you make above, all that followed were "Book" on how or why it can't be! How about we put aside personal bias towards each other and do what forums are for. Exchange information and let the readers decide what's best for them. Attempting to bully another into not contributing is not the essence of why these boards exist. We all have our opinions and should feel free to express them without persecution from those who chase one around the Internet making unwarranted attacks. It's a new year so lets clean the slate and communicate like adults. You feel that reels should be super tuned than to go ahead and express your beliefs. I'll do the same as I see fit. Here's a productive question as it pertains to throwing big baits. Place two identical reels on identical rods with identical line and identical preferred bait and make several casts on a football field by the same individual with the same break setup and cast control tension. Only variable is one being straight out of the box and the other being super tuned with all the bells and whistles. Reel must be a high end product like a Calcutta, Z2020 or Ryoga. Show me the results. In the same hands I doubt you'd see better then 10% improvement. Might be worth it to some and I'm not saying they shouldn't invest the funds or effort if they do but it's not worth it to me. The OP asked a question and I answered it. May not be what another or the OP wanted to hear but was my honest assessment of super tuning based on my experience. The reader or OP can choose to do as they wish. Including ignoring what I just wrote. This isn't China. No reason to censor what others wish to contribute. Hopefully going forward we can both engage in productive adult conversation void of personal attacks or unwarranted digs. Since you asked, loving the setup with my 867, Calcutta D 401 stock and 30#Tritanium plus Seaguar Premier 40# leader and an 8" Hudd. Getting 50 yard cast with ease and doing so for 4 hours plus continuously. Did have a female well beyond the 24" length come in hot and nip my Hudd inches from my feet. This was before I added the Fluoro leader and running straight 30# green line in gin clear water that rivals the Florida keys and any aquarium I've visited. I'm so happy with the setup that I ordered a 908 and my other Calcutta D 401 should arrive today. Thanks for asking and let me know if you need anything else. Oh, have an amazing satisfying day.
  16. Super Tuning will allow one to cast a non aerodynamic bait 80 yards? I find that hard to believe. Super Tuning at best provides 10-15% improvement to a top of the line reel. Not saying one shouldn't clean their reels but I've found little improvement from flushing a new reel. I don't see magical changes by Super Tuning a brand new Calcutta D. Yes, one could change all bushings to bearings and I'm considering that just because I like smooth cranking reels but that's not going to make that reel chuck a Hudd 80 yards. I'm getting close to 50 stock as it comes out of the box. As is, that's longer than I need and makes setting the hook more difficult with mono/copolymer. Braid would help but still doubt one would see 80 yards. Polishing the gears could make a reel smoother and one seeking that would see benefit in such a service but claims of magically transforming a Calcutta into more than it already is sounds like snake medicine. I can see a Cardiff or Curado benefiting from such a service but not a Calcutta, Z2020, Ryoga or Pluton. Perhaps the Calcutta D can benefit from more bearings on paper but I'm not seeing the need during actual fishing. I used to bow hunt, so I have a pretty good perception of 20-40 yards. Doubling the max on that seems unrealistic.
  17. What are you casting and on what? Had the bearings upgraded to Boca OS 7s on both my Zs and Pluton and honestly didn't see a difference with lures over 1/2 oz. I'm getting 40 yards plus with baits 2 oz or heavier on the new Calcutta D stock. I guess you can squeeze more performance out of Swimbait reels but not sure how practical it is. At least for me.
  18. Gears are polished, bearings are upgraded and money spent to cast light lures. Not exactly something that may apply here.
  19. Some really good info here.
  20. Tackle Trap does carry many stock Daiwa parts. Not sure if they carry Shimano. Might have to go direct to the manufacturer unless upgrading to custom items and the overseas is an option.
  21. I have a 401 and just ordered another 401. At first I was turned off by the not so easy break access and now it doesn't affect me at all. With 30# Sufix Tritanium which is very similar in diameter to 30# CXX I've cast Hudd 68 ROF 5 40 plus yards and pitch them as far as I possibly would go. I also have quite a few Trinidads (originals) and it does feel similar to the 20 although I haven't held that in a while. I actually prefer tall versus wide and why I never got a TE. Very comfortable reel to fish with and like I said, I ordered another one. I understand the concern with the non disengaging level wind but same as the Pluton these spools are so narrow that I don't see it as an issue. Specially for bass but that's my take and it may concern others.
  22. 1.We had an emergency super secret, hidden thread in your name and discussed it. 2.I don't overthink anything. 3.Have a happy new year!!!!!!!! And you didn't bother to invite me? That's rude. Happy New Year to you too.
  23. You still don't comprehend. It's just a question. No need to bring up animal rights or the rest of that crap you mentioned, in an obvious attempt to sound smart and you don't know what most are thinking. How would you? Just like you have no clue what I'm thinking. None. You think you do. But you don't. You're the one over thinking this. All I asked was one's view and that is all. Not any more complicated than that. Are you getting it? As for what swimbaiting is. How the heck do you know what it is? Most can't even define what a Swimbait is. See the thread if you don't believe me. Go on any forum that speaks of this and there's at least one thread asking that exact question. If lures can't be defined than how can the practice? Because you know it? Come on, 99.99% can't agree on one definition and yet somehow you have it. Hummingbirds. Lol where do you guys come up with this crap? Wait, meant to say ish.
  24. For the record, YOU started the snarky comments I'm quite sure 99.9% of us would have agreed with Geoff in the first place! [i was hoping this could be a mature discussion on how each approaches what they do as it pertains to swimbaiting but it appears it will just turn into another online romper room mob mentality session so perhaps it's best it ends now. Last thing I need to read is some adolescent catch all phrase "Haters will hate". You'd think our education dollars can provide better dialogue than that. Again with 99.99%. What is it with 99.99%? Is this the new math? As for Geoff's comments. What did that have to do with the question posed? Did you comprehend what I was asking and what he responded with? I ask a question and get some smart you know what remark. The following three post are plus that. Which means more not comprehending what I asked and just more jumping on the band wagon like childish kids do versus just answering the question or choosing not to like an adult would. To add more fuel to the childish behavior he responds with hater will hate. Really? You agree with 99.99% of that? If you're going to commit than go 100%.
