That's the absolute stupidest mindset that can exist. Who are you to require any proof from anyone? You're not special. You're not the leader of the free world. You're not the judge of all things bass. Neither is the one that posted the stupid remark about going to a doctor. It's fishing. That's it and we all have something to provide. I go by my name. I actually placed a circle hook on a Hudd but no bites. I'll keep chucking until I do because I believe it will work. You don't have to. When I catch one don't assume I'm going to post because I don't need pictures to prove I exist. Today's Internet dogma is "I photographed it therefore I am". I'm too old for that crap. Let me rephrase, when I talk about the bedfish I dont understand how someone who gets gratification from a swimbait bite can resort to bed fishing when a bed fish doesnt count in your eyes. And the amount you talk about hooks, and fish protection you participating in bed fishing makes me view you as a selfish hypocrite, think about it..... I get gratification from any bite. That's the point. A bite. Not a snag. That's me. You or anybody else doesn't have to. Let me say this again. I don't bed fish because it's too easy but I'm not going to pass up a big fish. Doesn't have to make sense to you or anybody else. Just to me. Consider it a target of opportunity versus the plan for the day. Truth be told. I'll chuck a bait at a dink just because I can't help myself and yet I don't go out seeking them either. Every outing and every cast is seeking 24" or better and in my area that's usually 8#s and plus and if it comes off I'll be pissed but I'll live to chase another the next day. That bite is good enough and I don't fly planes.

Why is sight fishing snagging? If specifically talking about bedding fish it's still not snagging. I just don't do it because it's easy but I wouldn't pass up an 8#r if she presented herself. Having said that, I wouldn't consider that an earned 8#r. IGFA disqualifies fish caught on loose trebles. CA disqualifies fish caught outside the mouth. Seems more than swimbaiters shed tears over ish. BTW, I'm new to this forum and have never heard them called ish. First time I read that here I thought it was something about a guy named Monroe. What's that all about.

Yes. For me. Thing is I believe most fish caught with stingers and rear or additional trebles would have been caught without the extra hardware had they actually been committed versus something else. Excluding rats baits or over size lures if the bass are actually crushing prior to eating. Not sure what's happening there.

I dont see the video. I'm sure it was cool. I'll concede we have no idea how a bass will eat so let's remove that from the equation for a second and just ask the following. Are we just content with catching it even if it ends up getting snagged? I prefer to know I earned it versus dressing a lure with extra hooks to have all my bases covered. That's just me and not saying others need to follow. Reason I remove extra hooks. Just how I interpret earned for me.

But were they eating or reacting to a situational circumstance? Perhaps they weren't 100% committed. Perhaps you forgot to set the hook. I don't know. I wasn't there. Perhaps you can provide more information as to what exactly happened? Like, were these hard or soft baits. Multiple hooks or just the one. That's the beauty about sharing so we can all learn and hopefully fine tune our craft versus just going fishing. Wish I could just do that but family and work don't always agree. Today being one of those. Perhaps tomorrow I can just go fish. Perhaps not. Tomorrow hasn't happened.

How do you figure that the fish was "feeding? " I bed fish all the time and have no qualms about it, as long as the person calls it bed fishing. That four plunder did not feed on your bait, you forced it to react in an instinctual circumstance. And 4lb fish usually aren't the brightest size at doing that. Go fish. I'm with Geoff I'm the one there and yet you know better as to the fish's intent? I'm glad you're with Geoff. I wish you both the best.

I've never fished a rat but something I may add down the road. If the bass are attempting to stun it before eating than wouldn't a single mid body hook do? I understand Rago has now added rats with two hooks and perhaps this was the reason based on what youve experienced. As I said, I have no experience with rats so this may just have to be as it is. As described, I wouldn't consider this snagging. As for the tail eaten Hudds. Wouldn't that stil be an engulfed hit? Not trying to imply that only head shots should be included. Big difference between a tail bite and swallowing it rear first. The rat does bring up a good point. Perhaps the size of the bait used determines how the hit will most likely come. I don't see a a bass that can engulf an entire bait doing a T-bone. Obviously, if it doesn't fit in its mouth than perhaps engulfing is not an option. Rat fishing appears to be something that can be very exciting.
