That’s why I like autochart. It creates and records topo maps for you as you use your sonar.
-
I prefer my humminbird for mapping. Autochart live in particular. Fish lakes and rivers with no topographical maps available and I’m able to make my own. A lot of times I turn my sonar off and I’m able to stealthily approach in my kayak. Just depends on what you’re trying to do. Downside to autochart live is you only have 8 hours of storage built into the unit and you need to add a zero lines card.

A good PFD (won’t notice it’s there if it’s a quality vest). Also an anchor wizard. I use mine every time I’m fishing

Thank you. I had seen some of your builds when I was digging through old posts looking for information. Considered asking you to build one for me but decided it was something I wanted to do myself.
-
So much good information here. This is going to help me with this build and possibly future builds if I decide I want to build another rod. Thank you
-
Thank you. Wish I could like this twice. I’m thinking cork grip but have Eva on my current one. Not much more thought put into it than that.

I have a custom rod built off a Batson sw967. I’m wanting to build another one but having trouble figuring out the components I need for it. Want to use Fuji k guides but can’t find a tiptop that will fit it that’s relatively small. Also trying to find reel seat and butt cap. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I’m currently using alumilite UV clear coat. Can’t say it’s the best but my favorite so far. 2 coats seem to be durable and it’s easy and dries fast under uv light. I used devcon 30 minute for a long time but it yellows over time. I used kbs for a little while but it ended up drying out on me when I didn’t get all the air out of the jar I was keeping it in.

I prefer fishing out of my kayak over my old jon boat.

Been building baits for a while. Always changing profiles and patterns. Looking to improve action and match different situations I fish. I wanted a shorter profile than I normally build. Hopefully help the spotted bass Im foaming for now get a better hook up.
-
Another thing is the tail shape and how much resistance it creates when the bait pivots.
-
I always try to make sure my baits are balanced evenly. Slightly head down but the front and back sink at the same rate and at the same angle. I try to keep my joint slots narrow to eliminate up and down movement. But I’m always experimenting with different designs. But I don’t like super wide glides. I prefer consistent decent distance glides. With lots of control
