  1. I know, my point is....some of us are likely way more concerned about it than the actual manufacturer.
  2. If 3:16 baits has 1000 baits to sell at the next release, do you think they aren't going to sell out in 30 minutes? I don't agree with anyone copying a bait and trying to dupe people into thinking it is an original but lets be real here.....do you really think this is going to hurt 3:16. It isn't. I'm not condoning it, but it isn't going to do even the slightest bit of damage. I'm sure some of us are more tweaked over this than Mickey is. And if he is a hot headed a$$wipe, oh well.
  3. Well there are plenty of reproductions out there you can buy. That seems perfectly acceptable as well.....art is some of the most copied ish out there.
  4. I'm not even sure one can patent something that is supposed to be a copy of something in nature. I don't know of any baits that are individually patented....maybe the concept like something truly original like a Chatterbait might be, I don't know. But certainly none of these baits....swimbaits are original baits, they may be unique as per the manufacturer but they are copies of something. Hey remember the rants about HPH and Bucca????? good times!!!!!...maybe the names are trade marked or copyright protected like Senko, chatterbait.......etc. I read an article in Tackle Retailer a few years back about people having to make copies 10% different than the original to avoid legal drama. I assume that is the truth.
  5. I took a bunch of big reds on a soft swim bait and a MH Denali Jadewood and a Curado 51e........on Mon/Tues. It changed how I think about big reels.
  6. Man this has taken a turn. Bottom line is, I don't personally give a f*ck about anyone's (collectively)ethics or morals or high horse sh*t. I do not know most of you I do not have expectations you are morally or ethically sound. That means I am never disappointed when someone acts the fool. Don't blatantly rip someone off and you won't be considered a douche canoe in my book but then again you shouldn't give a sh*t about what I think either. If you copy someone's stuff for your own use because it is too expensive or unobtainable.......just keep your damn mouth shut about it so the gestapo doesn't find out. I don't know Mickey from Adam, but I know his story. I'm not a fanboy. Bringing up his past and acting like he currently is that a$$hole isn't really all that cool. Just from where I am sitting it seems like a low blow. If that was a reference to something else personal between whomever made that comment......my bad.
  7. If somebody is copying a brand name bait and attempting to pass it off as the real thing, that is obviously FUBAR. I have a question in light of this situation. I get catalogs from Lurecraft, Netcraft, LPO and Barlows...they all sell crank bait blanks that are obvious copies of Lucky Craft RC's, Megabass 110's etc. Even though they don't mention those bait makers or attempt to pass them off as originals........why is that ok? I'm certain guys repaint them and pass them off as the real thing. Don't bait makers have to make a 10% change to be considered original or is that in reference to patented baits? and are 3:16 baits patented because if they aren't....then these things are going to happen. I would guess that if Megabass hasn't freaked out about their bait being copied, maybe it isn't patented. Can they even be patented? This is a really unique situation: A niche manufacturer who can only make a small amount of baits at a time, they sell out immediately and they sell for a premium on the black market. Of course it has the potential to attract people to copy it. I am surprised this shocked anyone.
  8. I have a 301A I am looking to move. I decided I hate round reels. It is about as perfect as one gets. 85.00 TYD
  9. I've relied on 301 and 401 series Shimano round reel for throwing most of my baits for a long time. In truth, I've never really felt comfortable with them as I have with lower profile reels. I do throw a Curado 301 and that is better. I had an epiphany this week as I was out in the Gulf catching 10 and 15lb redfish on a Curado 51e that I used in place of my traditional Calcutta 201XT......that epiphany was, I could absolutely get it done with a smaller reel. I picked up a couple of Citica 201 e's this week really cheap and intend to replace my Cardiffs. The difference to me is the line capacity and weight. With a Cardiff 301 able to spool 165yds or so of 20lb mono. I'm not sure I would need more than 80yrds of line. I think the Citica can give me that with the beneficial trade off being low profile design for personal comfort and lighter weight. Any thoughts. I don't fish crystal clear lakes and really never make ultra long casts. I think the Cardiffs were unnecessary overkill in my own case.
  10. I think that is the one. I guess it didn't go over too well?
  11. What was the name of the bait that Bass Tackle Depot was selling a few years back that looked like a Baby Wake? I remember the photo of it in a sexy shad color.
  12. The only baits I might be interested in trading for are real prey baits, shad, gill and maybe shiner.
