  1. The fish I caught to win the Sept tourney was in a community hole on Lake Austin. The spot is a known crappie hangout, and best known as Dale’s Tree to the locals. I was sitting in about 15 FOW throwing parallel to the bank over some bottom structure, which was a blown out brush pile. There was a 16+ caught under the dock directly to my right back in 2014. After I posted the video on instagram, another guy in my neighborhood (I live 1 mile from the boat ramp) sent me a picture that he caught the same fish 2 weeks before at night and 4 docks down. Then another guy told me he caught that fish a year ago (he’s looking for the photo). The jacked up tail is the signature marking.
  2. Mods, I need to have that post edited….it’s actually 10.1 lbs and not 10lb- 10 oz. Must have been temporary bass fever !
  3. it's been years, but i finally got one in the Tourney timeframe Lake Austin, Texas 10.1lb, 26.5 inches Really old fish, missing top half the tail, slammed the OG WCZ Battles shad Cast to catch below on YouTube channel @alanrbell https://youtu.be/B3jPuAg_4dg
  4. In the summer, i do some crappie fishing to fill the freezer. The Lake i fish is a power plant lake with an abundance of grass. The crappie come shallow to spawn in and around the grass. I see big fish chasing a hooked crappie. While i dont have a KGB, I'd recreate the struggling crappie retrieve. And maybe target that time of year when they go shallow, especially if you were worried about losing the bait.
  5. Big fan of slammers at night, especially the Strong Red colorway
  6. Some of the power plant lakes in Central Texas.......the water temp is over 100. If you are at the plant discharge it might be 104. I got on this August bite a couple years ago.....air temp was 100, water temp was hotter. The plant was pushing water, the fish were staging at ambush point in the current
  7. I had a heck of a time getting someone to work on a Blacksheep…..they either didn’t respond back or were too busy. www.mikesreelrepair.com Does authorized work on JDM stuff in North America. He is located in Canada, so you have customs shipping etc. He was very responsive and was heads and shoulders above Diawa North America (who wouldn’t touch a JDM reel) I do have a local guy that does all my Shimano stuff and rod repairs, but he no longer does Diawa
  8. what year did they change from wood to "other"......pretty sure i have an early one also, looks just like the picture with the feathered tail Good luck with sale
  9. drive out the Tamiami Trail and pull over and fish those canals......it's the road that parallels Alligator Alley
  10. Never had problems with CXX, throwing big baits since 2005. I always retie to remove the tip eyelet kink before every new trip.
  11. Bluegill.......i do have an OG Metalized bass which is different
  12. i lived in south florida when the peacocks were first introduced in the late 1980s. At that time they would rarely hit an artificial lure. If you have some live minnows it was game on. They progressed to hit small grubs and other baitfish imitators. The reason i started fishing with a golf glove was the sticky velcro teeth on these guys. A largemouth will go limp when limped, these guys will close their mouth on your thumb.

    Zombie gar

my fishing buddy's dad is Townsend Miller (deceased), who still is the world record holder for long nosed gar. I think it's the second longest freshwater standing record
  14. they have been slamming it......do doubt of what it is
  15. Finally got one during the tourney, dropped in the Tourney thread for the entry
  16. Finally got one.....the code is in the Video. On the picture, my duct tape sticker got jacked up on the Brecknell scale 7.25lbs on the WCZ OG Battles Shad 7.5 on Lake Austin this morning
