I’m getting like 9 feet on braid with a long cast. Has a nice slow rise on the pause. Swim is tight and there is some good action on rips and pauses.

Staples thru the bubble wrap near the tail to help keep it straight. Pack well so it doesn’t shift in the box.

Try using a snap. Sometimes a snap lets the bait run a little more true. And maybe ease into the crank a little more might help.
