  1. Thanks for the reply. Should I focus on matching the hatch with colors or is trout close enough to shad / squaw fish, etc?
  2. Until this past Friday, It's been over a year since I have fished the Delta. I started my honest swimbait fishing this year and have a good start on throwing them in the trout infested lakes around Central Cali. I threw a spro BBZ-1 floater in light trout (because it was already tied on) around the "tract" on Friday. I found a good funnel/choke point and pulled a nice one out three times (or three nice ones, who knows) but no strikes. One time it charged like it was going to strike but burned off. Got no love for any of three punkers I threw or the 6" hudd in golden shiner. What are some good swimbaits to start with on the Delta?
  3. Went out last night with wakes in mind. I found an original AC minnow on the clearance rack at my local tackle shop, black and gold color. I grabbed it thinking it would be a great carp imitation. I tied the AC minnow on first and started throwing it in a peaceful little cove filled with big boulders. I launched it out on about my 6th cast, landed perfectly between two big boulders. I began slow rolling it back and it got "slurped" under. When I could feel the fish, I swung back and set the hook. The fish pulled hard and broke me off!! I was using 15 pound big game and summed it up to abrasion from the rocks. I shook off the fact that I lost a great fish and tied on a 7" slammer in dark trout. I went on to catch three fish on it, with the largest being a 4 pound chunk. The other two were small keepers, but fun all the same. Sorry for no pics again, but I don't like taking pics of fish under 5!!!
  4. Thanks a lot!! It was the first time I threw it and at "that lake" we talked about!
  5. I painted up a 6" plastic punker in baby bass and popped it's cherry last night. I caught 7 fish on it, although nothing big. They were all in the 1.5-3 pound range. Had fun with it though, it was nice seeing my "work of art" catch fish!!! Sorry for the lack of pics, I was waiting for something over 5, more photogenic
  6. Anybody tried the cl8 bait? It looks legit and has some good reviews.
  7. The fs is 3:16, right? Hard to find, but if they get bit I'll start looking
  8. I have a BBZ, but have never got bit on it. What would be better in warmer water when more action is required? Triple trout? Other?
  9. I purchased one of these a couple years ago, but have only thrown it enough to test the swimming action. This is a bait that I have not heard much feed back about and I am wondering if it is worth throwing? It strikes me as kind of a refined slammer..... Anybody have experience with them?

    Black dog night

Don, we have a night tourney with mid valley on the 7th. Then a couple opens sponsored by who-be-do jigs. Which tourney are you referring to?

    Black dog night

I hooked a couple good ones last night on a LP and SC. These were the best two. My scale was set in Kilos and I couldn't figure out how to set it to read on pounds, I'm guessing a 6 and a 5. BTW, I have been using a Dobyns 805 flip/punch for the wood LP and it was like that rod was made for it!!
  12. Nick, Here's what you need to do. Get the original case number from when the patrol officer took your burglary report. Contact Modesto PD (assuming you reside in the city) and ask for a burglary detective or the Detective Seargent. Explain what you uncovered in your own investigation and where you are to date. It doesn't matter if peanuts were stolen or million dollar diamonds, a burglary is a burglary, and in this case it's first degree: Unlawful entry into an occupied residence with the intent to commit any felony or larceny (theft). If you dealt with patrol officers in your subsequent investigation that would explain the lack of interest. Understand that a patrol officers function is to handle in progress crimes, in a busy department (Modesto PD for example) they may handle 20-30 call for service per shift and take 10-15 reports. The patrol officer is expected to get the initial information and collect any evidence they may locate. A detective's primary function is to investigate crimes after the fact by, examining the evidence, doing leg work and talking to people involved. It sounds like you have identified your suspects and just need someone to package it all up with a nice bow and deliver it to the District Attorney for prosecution. Residential burglary in the state of California is a "strike" upon conviction, and another nail in the tweakers coffin. To the guys fortunate enough to reside in free states.... California has just as much meth as anywhere else, sometimes maybe more. It is VERY common for the tweakers to have there tweaker women dispose of stolen property, especially at pawn shops and recycle yards. On a political note; the liberal government in this state has made drug addiction a disease, and it is slowly being de-criminalized. There are so many drug diversion programs on the books here and with prison overcrowding, the state wants to find any reason not to send someone to prison. Two years ago they ammended the penal code to raise the monetary loss on larceny (not burglary) from $400 to $950. So now, most theft cases are misdemeanors instead of felonies and the crooks never see a cell block. Good luck with probation, they won't violate someone unless they have new charges pending, which is typically the result of the local PD, SO or CHP investigation. Let me know if I can offer you any further advice for you in this matter.....
  13. @Speedbead, here ya go.... The wife and I: @Bassindon69, let me know when you guys are going, we have our TOC there in Oct and I have never even layed eyes on CL! @Barse41, I'm running a 26 Trophy, but only spinning 5400 RPM's WOT. I'm going to try a 25 Trophy soon, but I think a 25 Fury will be the ticket. Did you hear about the BCB owner's Tourney on the Delta 8/26/12?
  14. Thanks for all of the great tips! I am eager to get back out and try different things. Barse41, There was structure around, but it was very subtle... If I say any more I will give away my spot I believe I have seen your name in the BBT tournament results. I'm the guy fishing in the white and reddish BassCat PII with the hot wife We fish as travellers in the Central and Mother Lode regions, but just qualled for the TOC so we are going to slow down on the tourneys and concentrate on putting more time on the water for the rest of the season. See ya at Clear Lake!!!
