  1. 2833 you're right on the money. Not every kayak is right for every situation. Two extremes come to mind. 1. Moving Water 2. Big Water There are kayaks out there that shine in both situations. For moving water where you're floating down stream and may hit some ripids the Predator, Coosa and Ride 115 do really well. Big water the Big Game, Pro Angler, Ride 135 and Cuda 14 do well. No matter what it does help to test drive a few to see what fits your body and fishing style. Kind of like buying a bicycle, sure any bike will let you get around but the proper style and fit makes all of the difference in the world.....
  2. I agree I won't own another fishing kayak that I can't comfortably stand and fish in. In fact I had three main criteria in a fishing kayak. 1. I need to be able to stand and fish comfortably. 2. A comfortable seat (I have back pain). And yes it also means I'm a pain in the @$$. 3. Good in hull storage so I can hide my rods from prying eyes. OK four criteria… It must track well because some of the places I fish are a bit of a paddle to get to. If you've ever paddled a boat that doesn't track well you understand. The main reason I promote kayaks with a high seating position is because it is so much easier to stand from the high position. It is also easier to sit back down and you make less commotion on the water. One of a kayak's main advantages is stealth but if you're beating and banging while trying to stand sending all kinds of vibrations in the water you may as well be throwing rocks at your targets. To each his own. I have a Hobie (touring style) and I have fished from it and it's great. I've also played around in a PA14 and I will tell you those things are awesome. Just not $3k awesome (to me). I'm not bashing on Hobies They have a distinct advantage in hands free fishing. They are also faster then 90% of the fishing kayaks out there.
  3. The Ocean Kayak Big Game II should be out soon. It will have hi/lo seating lots of storage and a weight capacity of 600#. I have also spent some time in the new Old Town Predator 13. It's a great fishing platform again it also has a nice seat the cockpit is nice and open and the Exo floor is a cool feature that helps keep your stuff dry. Just a couple more to think about. Two question. What type of waters do you primarily fish? Big lakes, small ponds, rivers, what? How are you built? 6'6" and 350# or 5'6" and 150#. Knowing that will help narrow your search. If you are planning on standing up while you're fishing I would highly recommend getting a boat with hi/lo seating. Standing and sitting from a seat that is flat on the deck sucks at best. Plus the new "Lawn Chair" style seats are WAAAAAAY more comfortable than the traditional kayak seat. If you can use your local dealer. Always best to keep the dollars close to home.....
  4. The guy was trying to sell a jeep and pretty much laid it all out there. Saying if you wanted a new pristine jeep look elsewhere, but if you're a real red blooded man that's not afraid of getting your hands dirty it's the jeep for you. That's the gist of it. It was the way he put it though that was so funny. He wrote about a five or six paragraph rant even mentioning that the back was too small for the kid your daughter is seeing to use the jeep as a place to get into her pants. I know I'm not doing the post any justice at all.
  5. Along this same line has anyone tried the new Strike King glasses?
  6. I really prefer my Ray Bans to most other brands I've tried. Probably going to give Wiley X a shot next I like how they felt in the store really need to do some "field testing". Speed is 100% correct, protect those peepers.
  7. Looks like craigslist has it flagged for removal. What a bunch of jackwagons. People have no sense of humor anymore. Thin skinned, uptight and politically correct. What a shame.
  8. Bummer, I was afraid they were gonna take it down.

  10. I'd have to agree if there are no nicks in your eyes and no abrasions on the line I would tend to believe you got an old spool of line.

Maybe hadn't given it much thought because I was hoping to make a trade.

Would also consider a Baby Wake or a Hardgill....
  13. Not in a place right now to invest in another rig to fish heavier baits and this bait is just collecting dust. Looking for either a Wake Jr. or Bullshooter Jr. with cash from my end. Would absolutely love for the Wake Jr to be sissy, ice or chartreuse.
