  1. I am aldo using a bps net, however mine was around 90$ and it is large like a promar but the netting I a rubber so your hooks dont catch in it. I have had it for two years and love it. Plus it telescopes out so if you have a fish hang you on a pier you can run it out and knock it loose or net it and give slack. It is an all around good net.

  2. If you are going to frog fish then I would look for mats that have bluegill, you will know If you hear popping in the mat. If you do not hear popping move on. If you find a mat with bluegill dont put your trolling motor down. Fish it painfully slow and spend an hr or so on it. If you do this you should be rewarded with some big fish. When I say painfully slow I mean move your bait an inch at a time and make repeated casts. Good luck.

  3. None of the lakes around here have any herring in them. Mostly threadfin and a few gizzard shad.

Opening up your mind would be the first hurdle you have to cross.

    Fish eat fish.

What do you mean by that. I am not scared to throw big baits, and think outside the box. Just seems like herring lakes are better swimbait lakes.

  4. While there are a few clear lakes around, most lakes are satined and i mean 4ft visibility or less. So what swimbaits would you choose to maximize your success.

    Slammer, Hardgill, Hudd.

    4ft visibility is plenty.

I have caught them on th hudd just not the slammer. I was wondering about the slammer, guess i will keep in throwing until something gives.

  5. I have two okuma 7 6 heavy swimbait rods. I have a 7ft 11heavy crucial and two 7ft med heavy x fast for the hudds only. I throw either 20lb invisx on chronarchs for hudds and 20-25lb cxx on abu 5500garcia series reels for triple trout and bull shad.

  6. I am not new to swimbait fishing as i fish hudds and other swimbaits and have been for a while now.

Without BSing me, how did you do with these other baits? And what size and fall rates were they? What rods and line? Are you playing the fish a little or dragging them right in?

I am using shimano and okuma rods and shimano reels with 20lb invisix. I am throwing 6inch hudds 5 and 12 rof. I have done fine with the hudds, i have hooked fish with the bull shad including around a 7good at guntersville. I am bringing them in but they seem to jump or spit it at the boat. I am not throwing super huge baits because i am fishing for both largemouth and spots. Just got the 6a inch lunker in.

  7. Hey guys I have been reading and recentley decided to join. I have a 8 inch triple trout, 7 inch slammer, and a bullshad. I live in central bama so fishing enormous baits is out of the question. I have hooked fish on the bullshad but have not been able to get them to the boat, but i am having more followers than I am hooking. I have not had a bite on the slammer or the triple trout. I am not new to swimbait fishing as i fish hudds and other swimbaits and have been for a while now. My question is what am I doing wrong, and are there any suggestions from you guys who might be more experienced than I am. Maybe there is something that i am just not doing completely right. Thanks guys.
