    The difference is innovation.. They both swim great. The new model is what you want so you dont have to worry about the nose blowing out. The og catches just as well but the nose will get torn. You cant really go wrong with what ever one you chose. I would chose innovation.. FYI they are called Battles shad.. The S is important.... Good luck

    I use the 867 for any baits that are 5.5 oz to 11 oz that I dont have to impart rod action. Some of the baits I have had success with this rod in freshwater are 250, Balam 300, DRT ghost, Hiroshima 8 10 and 13inch trout, Hiroshima Godzilla, og castaic 12inch hardhead, KGB King shad, gancraft 230 is a little light but works fine with upgraded hooks, huds pin real nice as well, the Working Class Zero 9inch Battles shad pins em good. However I have switched to the 807 for the huds and Battles, little shorter and stout. Hope this helps!
