  1. Thanks guys for the response. I opted for the gama round hook size 1..
  2. Do you use this rig for the 6" and 68 special, or just for the 8" hudd?
  3. Hey guys I'm having a difficult time choosing the top treble hook size. Ive reseached online and majority are recommending a size 1 treble hook, but I need some clarification is it a 1 or 1/0? Two hooks I'm considering are Gamakatsu Treble Round Bend Hooks Bronze and Owner Stinger Treble Hook Black Chrome ST-36
  4. Thanks in advance for all your advice from my previous post. I now need ehelp pairing for my cardiff/ldc production h rod. I have it down to 25lbs big game or 50 lb power pro braided line. Im a shoreline fisherman and I will be focusing on 8" hudds. Eventually ill step up to triple trouts/316/deps/roman made etc.
  5. I just picked up some 6" and hudd 68, both in rof 5. Now getting myself some 8". I'm also sticking tk trout color. Once I build my confidence I may explore other colors or I may setup to triple trout/roman made. But since I'm still new to swimbaits ill keep it simple and stick to hudds.
  6. I'll be there saturday. Hopefully I can pick up some swimbaits. This will be my first time there, do you know what other swimbaits I can purchase other than the BB?
  7. The Southern Trout Eaters rig does that, but for shore fishing i wouldn't reccomend it. Not only does it get hung up a lot more from the shore like that, but also during the summer the weed growth increases and it gets annoying having to pick weeds off of your hook after every cast. Thanks.
  8. do you guys add a stinger hook at the bottom part of the lure?
  9. You guys don't rig the top hook BB style? Can't I simply attach an o-ring & stinger hook, to where i tie my line? Actually I don't if that is even possible, since i don't have the bait in hand.
  10. Thanks guys! Will be placing an order soon. I fish at Castaic lake (butch browns stompyard,) hopefully I can catch thosr toads!!
  11. Awesome! ! Next question does the color matter, or sbould I stico to trout?
  12. I was looking in to 8" ROF 12 for the shoreline. Do you think its an overkill for shoreline fishing?
  13. I'm planning on purchasing a few Hudds and don't know which one to get. Which leads to my question, do you guys throw the 6" or 8" hudds and what color/ROF do you prefer? Thanks
  14. I recently purchased the 300. Not to small/big. I was torn between the 400/300 but when I held the 400, it was a little big for me to hold for throwing swimbaits all day. In addition the 300 feels more natural in my hand. I initially was debating between a daiwa lexa 300 and cardiff, but decided for cardiff because of the prce tag and wanted a round reel for swimbaits. Hope this helps.
  15. BBZ 8"Floater, Hudd 8" rof 12, and Hudd 6" rof 5. Since these are only swimbaits.
  16. @3ills sick swimbait collection. Im just getting in to the swimbait technique.
  17. I rarely ocean fish. I also looked in the curado 300 but the price tag is alittle high. I think I made my decision and pairing my LDC rod with the Cardiff 301a. Thank you guys for your feedback. P.S. I will eventully upgrade the Cardiff to the Calcutta.
  18. Thanks for the feedback. Since i'm new to fishing swimbaits, I will be focusing on 6-8" Hudds/BBZ. Eventually I will take it a step up and purchase some Roman Made,Triple Trout, and 3:16. I really wanted a Calcutta, but i can't justify paying that much for a reel.
  19. Actually debating between Shimano Cardiff 301 and a Daiwa Lexa 300. I'm leaning towards the Cardiff, I just want some feedback. Thanks.
  20. Hey guys I'm new to this website and fishing this technique. I plan on buying shimano cardiff 301 and pairing it with an ldc h rod. My questionis do you think this is a good reel for swimbaits? Ill be throwing 3-5oz swimbaits. Thank you in advance.
