Just keep fishing it. Try it all, cast and let it sit....sometimes up to a minute, and they slurp it in. Other times I'm cranking it the second it hits the water and they prefer that. For me it's been about experimenting with different retrieves, from really slow to med. quick, never had much success on quick burning type retrieves though. Most of the time, just enough speed to hear the bait clack at night, or see the action just working seems to be the most consistent producer for me. I also prefer white at night, don't understand why, but my white 7" gets crushed. I have fished 7" and 9" and they both work as well as the x2's.
