  1. Arrigatto for the reply! I am on camp foster and I will be getting a couple cars for my wife and I. There are 2 places to bass fish here on oki but you can only fish the one. Apparently the locals eat every one they catch so perhaps not the best fishery. I do plan on making many trips to the main land to fish while I am here. I like salt, did a lot of it while I was Florida.
  2. Would anyone know anything about availability of Deps/other cool Japanese lures guys in the U.S. go gaga for in Japan? I just got here a few days ago but I have seen some tackle shops. Bass fishing locations are hard to come by down here on these islands but I hope to fish mainland Japan a few times while I'm here for the next three years. I won't be able to reunite with my gear for at least a few more weeks while my wife and I get settled.
  3. http://www.in-fisherman.com/bass/largem ... outh-bass/ This article says a bit to the subject. There are other published sources but I just saw this post and did a little search with the google machine.
  4. Well written FishDr. Amazon has them for around $120 depending on the rod. Slightly cheaper than say TW.
  5. contact okuma and see if they'll cover it under warranty Yeah just got off the phone with one of their service reps. They just need the chunk of the rod with the product number and a check for return shipping for 19.95.
  6. I loved my 7-11 XH. I even threw small hudds like the shad and minnow on it in addition to conventional baits like frogs and 3/4-1 ounce Rat-L-Traps catching Redfish here in Pensacola Bay. I say loved in past-tense because while bass fishing in a boggy pond I was using it to throw frogs over lily pads. A 5 ft gator decided it wanted my frog. I don't know why I set the hook on that thing. I watched him slowly roll up and just casually eat a white spro frog and something possessed me to rip a hook set on hit. Lost a foot and a half of fishing rod. Lesson learned. Great rod, silly owner. Getting another.
  7. Just saw that too. They look sweet.
  8. I have been using 20# CXX with most of my baits. But I raise the question for weedless baits like the hudd 6" and 68. I have hooked many fish on the weedless shad/minnow using braid but also 20# CXX. But with the larger weedless baits, would you still go mono or switch it up to straight braid? I have been throwing them on CXX but is braid a better option?
  9. I always had some measurable success and a lot of fun fishing at Prettyboy. A lot of memories on that lake. Appreciate the warm welcomes.
  10. Thanks for the heads up.
  11. Name: Dylan Occupation: Marine Student Naval Aviator at NAS Whiting Field Location: Pensacola, Florida Originally From: Glen Rock, PA (fishing mostly Prettyboy Reservoir in Maryland, Lake Marburg and Lake Redman) I've been swimbait fishing for about a year and a half on and off with my schedule. Just recently starting to get bites with the bigger baits as I've switched to them almost exclusively. Spots down here are tough to come by and I don't have a boat yet. The bait collection is small but is gaining some size. Been lurking around the forum for a while and decided while studying for my flight tomorrow to make my first post. You guys all seem like a great crowd and I learn a little bit every time I jump on the site!
