  1. I like the dodgers alot, all of my family is from the LA area. The giants though...
  2. I am personally crazy about baseball, and follow the MLB religiously. With it being september, alot of people are going crazy about football and while I do have a couple fantasy teams, it's still baseball season and it will be for a little bit longer. So lets hear your team. I'll start by saying I'm a diehard redbirds fan.
  3. Alright, have a decision ahead of me. At my work I can get a GL2 BBR 964 for $117 with 10% off or I can get an Okuma Guide Select GS 7111H for $119 at a tackle store down here. I don't want to throw any huge baits yet, just want to be able to handle all hudds, other softbaits not heavier than 6 oz and some hardbaits under 6 oz. I have seen that some the southern swimbait guys fish the BBR 966 with a ton of baits, but I'm not gonna get into anything huge. I have also heard nothing but great things about the Guide Select rods, but rods in question are rated for the same lure wt., line, and the GS is just an inch shorter, both are Mod. Fast. I have also picked up both multiple times and I love them both. So, in your opinion what would be the better rod for what I'm looking for. Looking forward to any input you guys can dish out, thank you Spencer
  4. I love it, I did the same to one that looks to be the same bait that I got for 89 cents at a pawn shop five years ago or so. I've never thrown it, but I think I'll have a date with it tomorrow night. Awesome post, no doubt.
  5. I havent thrown much else other than this bait and an swaver, but as soon my new job starts im all in.
  6. Thanks, I don't see myself picking up a senko or drop shot any time soon. Mods, feel free to move it the correct section.
  7. Went around tossing a 6 inch castaic trout today, before going out I modded it to a treble hook because the stock hook just seemed like crap. Two casts in I lost a donkey, two casts after two pounder, 15 minutes later a three pounder, then after caught the fish in the picture. Went 4.52 on the digi. One thing I noticed with this bait is that it is very poor quality, guess thats what you get for tossing a 10 inch bait. after the bigger fish the bait was done with, tail gone and beat to hell. I ended up missing 4 fish, landing three, and losing three. I'm definitely hooked, fish SLAM these things. In the pictures, you can tell fish choked the bait.
  8. Did some searching on here, and all I could really find was a mattlures hardgill in tilapia pattern. what are so other baits that come in tilapia colors? looking for hard and soft baits under 4oz. Thanks, spencer
  9. I'm also from arizona, and these lakes get any where from low to high 80s. I think it definitely slows the bite down, but just gotta slow your roll and you'll get fish.
  10. I'm currently looking at and strongly considering purchasing a SB711MH on the black market for 95 shipped. I know that Powell no longer makes this rod, but still makes a 711H. I have read some reviews on this heavy action, but haven't been able to find any for the 711MH. This will be my first swimbait rod, and to start off I'll be throwing a baby wake, savage gear line thru trouts, and a punker. But I will also be getting some 6 inch hudds, along with some spro BBZs. I don't really see myself throwing any baits over 5 ounces until I get a hang of throwing these smaller baits, that's why I'm strongly considering getting the rod in question. I have heard great things about the 711H, but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in the medium heavy rod, if anyone will give me some feedback and if someone recommends this rod to an up and coming swimbaiter. Thanks in advance, Spencer
  11. Definitely gonna pick one of these up. Such an awesome bait. I'll probably end up getting one natural color and then the black for night fishing it. I haven't owned a rat, but for the price of these things, I'll have to try them before I try anyother rat.
  12. +1 I also love how it was right next to a boat launch. Some of the biggest bass I have ever seen we're sitting on, or right off the side of a boat launch. Sweet video, stuff like this makes me way too excited to start fishing swimbaits. I should have the new stick and baits monday.
  13. Thanks for all of the feedback everyone. I'm really getting the itch to slap a reel on the new rod thats coming in the mail and going to go toss some swimmers. Already putting together a little game plan for when I get out for the first time. Again, thanks! Spencer
  14. I'll be damned, awesome paint job.
