  1. Speedbead: Thanks for the clarifications. I sincerely appreciate it. Thank you.
  2. it is a keeper! rip it at night .. it gets hit !
  3. Thanks much. I got a day job but evenings are for custom work.
  4. The baits were Castaic hard baits I repainted and changed the eyes. The carp color does get slammed for sure as there are no trout were I fish it.
  5. If you haven't decided yet ... you can PM me for a fresh coat.
  6. i had some very painful tendonitis in my casting arm elbow. big baits + wrong rod = pain. had some PT on the elbow, better now and I got a LDC Rod so i can cast all day .. no more pain.
  7. I hot water rinse any stinky soft swimbaits to get any smell residue/oil off. Then I use a few squirts of PTL Hog Tonic in a Ziploc and soak the bait for few days. Works for me.
  8. http://www.imakatsu.co.jp/products/pro_a159.html I got one in rainbow before Xmas. It's about 8" long. After I painted the tail black I had followers. No takers yet. They have 'em on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/IMAKATSU-Bigroid- ... B00DOS5LIQ

  11. congrats.......lake murray .. love it there
  12. caught my 1st smallie there. lots of underwater brush in the coves. good luck.
  13. nice focus on the job at hand.
  14. I found that slow rolling it brings followers.... burning it over the same spot later in the day can get one of 'em to commit. i fish on pressured socal lakes if they get too good a look at it they'll pass on it. my take anyway.
  15. Been fishing a Timberflash as a wake for the last few weeks. No followers .... Nada. Started cranking it under in frustration back to the boat to switch locations...complete wolf pack followed it in. no takers but lots of interest the rest to the day cranking it under the surface. had a few stripers take a swipe. hopefully largies will bite it early next saturday morn.
  16. Hey Guys! Thanks for all the passionate responses. I needed a new reel for my Loomis Big Bait GL2 Casting 8' Hvy BBR964C I had just moved my Calcutta 400 TE to my new LDC XH. Was getting inflamed elbow from chucking the deps 250 on the former Loomis setup. Got a LEXA out of the sales bin at Soprt Chalet for 175$ Gonna use the Lexa/Loomis for Hudd Deluxe and top waters. Thanks again.
  17. Trying to decide between the Daiwa Lexa 300 or Shimano Curado 300 E? Not concerned on price (as they are close) but any thoughts on which you prefer would be helpful. Thanks much.
  18. looking for your overall preferences on either a 5.1 ratio or a 6.3 ratio for fishing swimbaits. throwing huds + deps et al. thinking about buying a Daiwa lexa 300 thanks in advance.
  19. a follow up..... switched to fluoro 25lb spent the day tossing a BaitSmith 9.5" magnum trout on a LDC XH, awesome bait + awesome rod. Thanks Eric and Ben. added a treble trailer behind the top fin but left the single large hook on head of the bait. only had two strikes, both that i could see happen 12ft from the boat. a 4lbr gave it a double tap, no hook up and then later a wolf pack of 4lbrs following it with an fat 7lbr smashing it from the side! awesome to watch .... no hook up. wondering if the fluoro and my knee jerk hookset are a bad match. felt like both times i had 1/2 second hook ups before i pulled the bait away? ugh.
