  1. so true! its not like my old tiny town in idaho where ive came across F&G who shot 4 men on the spot while quartering 6 elk right before the season started. i always C&R. whats the point to keep something that taste like the back flush from lake pumps!

Come on. That ish can't be true

What I was thinking. I know there is a shoot first, ask questions later policy dealing with poachers in some parts of Africa but here???

I was pretty young when it occurred. they were illegal citizens poaching in a small rural town in 99 or 00! Unfortunately i dont know the entire situation and what exactly caused the warden to fire back, but 2 men died and 2 were arrested and deported from what my pops said!

  2. Fishing last summer i remember making an extra long cast standing in a steep bank and i swore the ground came up and hit me! i became horizontal with the ground mid cast and having my feet swept out from underneath me from standing some eucalyptus or bush seeds that were like ball bearings! Make sure you have good footing when casting heavy baits!

  3. at least you catch and release...you wanna talk real poaching go to tamarack lagoon or any fishing pier :(

  4. from what i hear, the guys working on the dam have been fishing it or letting their buddies launch their boats there and are pulling some decent fish :/

thats good to hear but bad thats its not going to open this year. now i need to make some new dam friends! i cant afford to get caught poaching again!

  5. Havnt these been around for a long time?
Were did you get that? I don't see them on their web site of any other one.

theyve been around for a while! Its pretty rare to find new ones. luckily my local shop pulled some strings and got a small batch in! i hear Blackdog will not make anymore because it too similar to the triple trout!

  6. FOR ALL YOU SWIMBAIT KAYAKERS, I am investing in a kayak and am looking for serious input, I want something durable, something I am comfortable to stand in, some dry storage, 10-12 feet, weight and height can also play a factor, i am 5-10, 155-160. Suggestions, help, tips anything.

look into getting an ocean kayak or a hobie! ive got a O.K. prowler 13 outfitted for the lakes and kelp beds off the coast! its light enough to haul into tight spots and durable enough to survive sliding across the freeway when your roof rack bolts sheer off. im only 5'5 and im able to pick it up on load it on top of an suv!

  7. thanks for the info guys! i dont mind the cold weather or ice! it wont be my first rodeo. i just know i better stock up on hudds and the soft baits for those pesky pickrel. i was curious if there are any land locked striper or musky in winni, winnisquam, or any lake around concord! a nice musky is something id like to cross of my list before i die!

  8. Like everywhere else the bass are not going to spawn until the waters warm up to the right temps. And you just never know what the spring will be like in New England. I'm in central Mass and I've seen bass with eggs in the nests as early as April (small shallow ponds) and as late as the end of June. You won't be that far from large deep lakes like Winnepesaukee, Winnisquam, and Newfound. But there are also just a million small 50 to 500 acre lakes everywhere in New England. After all, the glaciers stopped here! These smaller waters will warm much faster and hold big fish.

In May you should be able to find spawning largies or smallies if you keep your eye on the water temps. And the pre-spawn fishing is often better than the spawn. I'd suggest you call Northern Bass Supply when you get here. They are a good tackle dealer and run one of the biggest tournament trails in the NH. They should be able to steer you right. And you are correct, there aren't a ton of people throwing really big baits but you also won't be the first. Hope that helps.

Good info! thanks guys! i cant wait to get out there and try some southern california tactics on those NE bass!
