  1. Anyone know a good way to fix a bent slide swimmer tail? I tried searching but keep getting shudder tail threads
  2. All great tips. Very helpful. Followers right on the tail so I'll try some of these. Thanks!!!
  3. Ive had a Deps SS 250 for a while now but have gotten no play on it. Lots of followers, but no bites. I got some bites on the silent killer 175, but as highly touted as the SS 250 is, nothing as of yet. Does anyone have any tips as to how to fish this bait? I generally slow reel and sometimes speed it up or twitch it. Ive searched on the forum but get mostly links to the black market.
  4. ya i picked one up in japan a few months ago. nothings been caught with it though
  5. I saw someone mod it to give it more a of the s action
  6. There is a ton on ebay Well there you go.
  7. Did you have to pay high dollar? I like this one. I paid about 180. It's a limited one from a trade show over there. I see them pop up on auction sites over there. I think I saw a few on eBay too

  9. Not yet. Haven't gotten out yet but I can't wait to throw it out.
  10. This may just be major inexperience on my part, but I'm still trying to learn about hudds. I cannot seem to get bit on one. I'm fairly new, and when I very first started, I collected a bunch (cost/availability) because I was told it was so great. But months go by and nothin. First time out with a Roman made I get bit. First time out with a deps I get bit. Why not the hudd? If anyone has any pointers, please let me know. By the way I butch rig them. I have slow rolled on the bottom, swam them slow, and other methods. Trout are stocked in the lakes I fish as well. Judging by what I've been told I can't help but feel like if I ever get it down I'm gonna really enjoy myself. Sorry for the noob question
  11. Definitely +1 on guide selects
  12. dont know if this helps, but I recently was in Japan to visit in laws and some of my own family and didnt see one 250. I asked at each store and none had any shipment coming any time soon so I emailed deps in Kyoto directly. They told me that because they are changing over to a new material, they are still testing and production is currently stopped with no time frame as to when the 250's will be shipping again. not specific to the flash carp, but is probably one reason for the prices
  13. Picked up some stuff while in Japan. Highsider and silent killer were about 46 bucks and gancraft was about 78. Unfortunately no slide swimmer 250's. The shop workers there were telling me that alot of it gets sold off in auction before hittin the market so theyre kinda hard to find even in Japan. Got some other stuff but gave it to my brother when I get back. I think he posted those as well. The father in-law is in to fishing too so he's been keeping an eye out for me over there and getting the latest on some deps stuff so I'll try and stay on that as well.
  14. Find bedding fish. Fish the outside edges for staging fish. You'll get bit. Big smiles. Thanks for the straight up advice. Really does help. I will try this next time out. Still working on the swimbait thing but got my first a couple weeks ago so Im buiding on it.
  15. I don't want to bed fish which is why I'm trying to find out if throwing the swimbait is effective. seems everyone this time of year is finding the fish and putting the bait right on em. I always hated that method cuz it's boring and super frustrating if you can't get the fish to bite. Thanks for the advice on fishing deeper though. I will try and stick to that next outing.
  16. This being my first year of really swimbait fishing, I was wondering how effective swimbaits are if your not really into bedfishing. The fish in my area are now spawning so I wanna know if it's worth throwin the swimbait.
  17. It was a Roman Mad Lipless Trick
  18. Been really swimbaiting since last year. Mostly throwing huddlestons. Since last Christmas haven't had a single bite. Almost was putting the swimbait down for awhile just to try n catch somethin. I got a roman made as a gift for Christmas but only threw it for 2 or 3 casts, so today I decided to chuck it out there n first cast I land one and end the drought. Nothin the rest of the day but good to get somethin going.
  19. If you decide to wear an expensive pair of shades on the water, wear a lanyard. otherwise stick to cheaper shades when fishing. All I gotta say
  20. I use owners whenever I can. Exception being hudds cuz bending owners is a pain
  21. About the spring weight, Okumura says in the video that prior to this new model, he used to drill a hole into his 250's and customize himself by adding the spring weight. He also says we have a lot of options now to play with the tuning weights so it seems like a lot is geared to customizing the bait for each person. Ill be in Japan next month as well so if I get some time I'll try n hit up a tackle shop n snag a few
  22. Ok. Thanks for the info. Im mostly just looking to get it down a little further than it does stock. I'll play with the weight some and see how it goes.
  23. What all goes into tuning the 250? Is this something that can be done yourself? Been looking through the forums to see the process. Also can u add weights to sink faster and has anyone done this?
