Highly suggest looking into saltwater walking baits, baits we use for stripers. A lot cheaper and they get bit!

99% of the places I fish don’t have any maps, or depth reading, or fishery info

I got an older discontinued Garmin 54 DV. Got it from a buddy. Tried it out on my new yak yesterday. Transducer doesn’t work. It’s been a while since I’ve used it. I want to upgrade my unit. I want a 2D, Side Scan, Down Scan. I’ve heard the Humminbird Helix is a great unit. How’s Lowrance? Garmin? Humminbird? Or the other brands?

I use spinning rods in the salt!

I’ve slayed with the DS glide. In my first month I caught an 8-2, 7-5,7-1 5-11, 5 even and multiple under 5 with a few missed biggons. All MA fish!

Got out this afternoon. First swimbait fish of the year. Only got one decent one near the end of the trip off a wind blown point. She hit a DS customs slow sink 3 piece swimmer. She went 5-9. Didn’t fish many swimbaits, mostly convention gear. IMG_3198.mov

Thanks guys! Makes sense. I haven’t done this retrieve often but had some good bites. I’ve used giant 8 inch jitter bugs for this! Cast out to an overhang, dead stick it with a few light twitches. Then start a faster retrieve. To me what is happening is, the fish think it’s an injured squirrel bird rat anything of that nature. It’s interested in it looking at it. Looks like it’s stunned when you start the fast retrieve it looks like it’s trying to escape so the fish has to make a choice to eat it or not

I just watched the Toxic rat video. It got me thinking. I need to start tossin rats more. What do you guys look for when throwing rats? Not just hey it’s night time and I have a loud wake bait. Are you looking for certain weather? Certain times of year? Moon phases? Water clarity? Certain areas you throw it in? Do you only fish rat baits in certain lakes?

I’m going to work on that!

I love different baits then the regular wake, rat or glide. Like the dirty bird, hellfish, rugged thumb duck. What are some other baits that different!
