actually I'm using night crawlers. No but smallies are super aggressive, none of the bronzies i caught have been on a straight retrieve, they will follow it up and get reaaall close to hitting but turn away. If i see a fish following, I will make super erratic movements and bring the bait to the surface and then kill it. usually does the trick. Ive been most successful on a negotiator, and dozens of hits on the weedless 68 special rof 5 while letting it die and fall to the bottom, but its weedless so i haven't hooked up with any smallies yet, mouth is too small, if you rig some stingers you'd do great. Went out with Jesse (MossyPumpkin) and he lost one on a 9" slammer a few days ago at the boat, so i could see slammers and rats producing really well. wasn't a very big fish either
