  1. I thought the same thing, it looks kinda wonky
  2. Heck yes, I loved mine (RIP) and thought I would never fish one again. Hope the price is right
  3. I mostly use a 68 here in SC, as most of my fish aren't big enough to require the difference in size of a 8 versus the 68. My pb came on a 68 top hook rof 5. It's tempting to rig a belly treble on them when you're gettin bit but not hooking up, but I suggest putting the stinger on the top to save yourself some $$ from hanging up on the bottom.
  4. Thanks guys, I've been obsessed with the way these baits look in the water lately. I hit a rock that was barely under water and it broke the tail on my baby wake, I guess I'll be sending it back to Mickey for repairs soon
  5. I haven't posted any reports here in a long while, and hopefully soon I will get around to finding all the pictures from my old phone and putting some of the fish up here from the past 2 years. Anyways, I went through a long and brutal slump spanning from July until about mid October where I fished multiple times a week and only caught 3-4 fish total during this period. That being said, I acquired a brand new carp baby wake about a month ago and my first time out with it, I caught 3 fish on my lunch break. I couldn't even begin to describe how amazing this was, as it had been a LONG time since I had actually landed more than 2 swimbait fish in one day. I have accumulated 11 fish on the bait in the past month, and lost a few as well that jumped me off at the bank. Surprisingly to me, all but 3 or 4 bites have come on an aggressive and steady crank, or at least enough to get the bait down 2-3 ft with 20lb fluorocarbon. The topwater bites have all been within 10 seconds of the bait hitting the water, letting the ripples settle and slowly twitching/walking the bait back. I have yet to get one on a slow, steady retrieve. I have mostly been fishing a group of ponds close to my house that actually get allot of fishing pressure from neighbors, but yesterday I decided to go through my milk run of spots throughout the entire local area. This trip was in celebration of class being canceled, as well as the arrival of my new wake jr. from Mickey's most recent release. I have never fished one before, but it cranks better than the baby and it also can be thrown on my big setup without feeling overpowered. I had a few follows of fish in the 4 pound range, but still managed 2 cookie cutters who were pinning balls of shad up to the bank. Both were caught cranking the bait just off a little shelf from 2-5 f.o.w. Here are the pics, most fish are 1-3 lbs with the biggest being 4 on the nose. The 2 wake jr fish were 2-8 and 2-9
  6. Those are all healthy looking fish, I hope your luck continues
  7. Only fitting that there's a unicorn behind it
  8. Looks like you really got whopped, hehe. Getting hit with big baits is the worst, I've been plopped with some crankbaits but I would trade 5 of those for the one time I got hit with a spro rat...
  9. This same company's Instagram has a picture of a bait that looks exactly like a Real Prey pond shiner line thru as well. I wish there was some originality now days that would push the envelope of swimbait fishing instead of companies like Smash Tech just trying to make a buck
  10. I've been on a hot bite with a baby wake lately, however I am in the south. They only hit it on the crank, though
  11. I had a 7'9" heavy (1-3 oz i think) and it was great for rats and 6" punkers. The biggest thing I threw on it at the time was a 9" slammer, but it had a soft enough tip to load up nicely on the cast and hookset without ripping the hooks out of fish. I did snap it about 2' from the tip, but I was longboarding to a pond years ago and may or may not have fallen and jammed the tip into the ground... Warranty replacement was a breeze
  12. Dislike, some people out there really suck... Sorry to hear about your situation, I hope someone on here can hook you up. Just wondering, how did the combo get stolen?
  13. I got a 68 in bubblegum to throw at spots and smallies and the paint is already peeling and bubbling off. The back of the tail and bottom are already sin-paint and I haven't even tied it on once yet. Until now I have had no bad experiences (other than with the gills) but if I had wanted an albino, I would have gotten an albino. Smh...
  14. Awesome looking flies! If you tie in bigger clumps of marabou into the tail you'd be surprised how well it helps to streamline and keel articulated flies. You use allot more feathers and it's messier, but totally worth it
  15. Remember when one of those sold for a grand on ebay...
  16. The fact that you were even able to notice him is impressive. They will only get bigger for now on though!
  17. That's an awesome day right there, looks like you're really on em
  18. Looks sorta like a hudd mixed with a realprey, the quality of craftsmanship is yet to be seen though (obviously, seeing as they haven't been released)
  19. I heard from somewhere on social media that Toshinori is recalling or offering to take back the first run of baits until the clear coat/adhesion issue is resolved. Someone correct me if this is wrong, but it seems like the issue is being worked on.
  20. Is there a category below a lowball to describe that offer? ha I'm poor too but dang... Free bump
  21. Bait is traded, if I didn't PM back I'm sorry, I tried to respond to everyone but work has been really busy today and I may have missed a few. Thanks SU
  22. I got this in a trade and it needs to go to someone who won't be scared to put her to work. It was repainted by "the taxidermist who sometimes does Mattlures baits and is based out of Virginia or WV". This is a badass bait, the lip was removed and I agree that it swims better without it. I would prefer to trade for baby wakes, wake jrs in shad, bluegill, or carp colors. Freestyle herrings (F or SS) or SS 6" or 8" FS trout. $$ can be added on either side depending on condition/ # of baits. Phoney glide shad, hinkle shad, SS HPH, or pats baits as well. Make me an offer! Please attach a picture of bait(s) if offering a trade, because I'll ask anyways and we might as well just get right to it...
  23. For the tail skin, there is a tiny bit of glue around the leading edge near the joint that you can separate (careful not to mess up the foil) and then it should slide off same as the front. I have an old fingernail file that no longer is abrasive but is thin enough to slide in there and work under the glue. I've seen a few on ebay that people have cut the skin off and re-glued the slit closed i/o sliding it off, but that's easy to look out for. The skin would be very difficult to rip accidentally, though.
