  1. I own the XH Okuma Guide Select and I have thrown baits as small as a Hudd 68 all the way up to a deps 250 (6.5 oz). I think the rod handles the 250 fine and I do it consistently. I bought my brother a Gen 2 Irod Large Swim and I would suggest this rod over the Guide Select. It's a much lighter rod without sacrificing much power. I have not used the Irod as much as the Guide Select but the few times I have used it, I was impressed. It can also handle the deps 250 fairly well. Lastly, my cousin owns the H Daiwa DX and although I have not personally thrown it, he seems to like it. I believe the heaviest bait he throws on it is an 8" Hudd.
  2. When this happens I pause the bait for a bit - maybe 15-20 seconds. If the fish doesn't hit it by then I give a couple hard twitches and pause again. If still no blow up, then I continue to wake it back the way I was when the fish initially hit. When I do get them to come back, they usually hit during the hard twitches after the pause.
  3. Try giving it more of a sweep to speed up the retrieve for a couple feet and then pause it. Might get her to react
  4. I mostly only use Venmo to pay friends back (food, errands, etc.). Like Chris said I think PayPal is safer. What are the reasons Venmo seems better to you? Just curious
  5. I'm thinking you'll likely need to get the blade a little further from the belly of the bait cuz like you said I don't think the blade has enough room to spin even if you downsize. Maybe try attaching a short wire arm and then the blade?
  6. ^^^ agree with Jace. I use my ROF 5 Hudd right under the surface when the water gets warm. If I see a follower when it gets close to the bank I let it rest on the bottom and that can get them to crush it sometimes.
  7. I throw the blade runner heavy wire rig that has 4 blades and either 1/8 or 3/16 blade runner heads with keitechs or skinny dippers
  8. Like reading about these giveaways from great members. Not in
  9. I like fishing ROF 5 Hudds near the surface during spring/summer/fall anytime the fish are pretty active. I fish them within a foot of the surface and occasionally pop them up to make it look like a trout feeding on smaller baitfish/bugs. I think it gets more attention that way.
  10. Nice one Shawn! Really like this idea
  11. I throw mine on 20lb copoly with no problems. No fish worthy of taking a pic with yet, but I caught one ~4.5lber when my camera died on me. I like throwing it around tule islands/points on the delta and just above/between grass. I have one rigged with a split ring on the nose and one with a #5 decoy egg snap. Haven't really noticed if I like one over the other. As far as retrieve, I like using my reel cadence more than rod twitches to work the bait. For me, I like pushing the handle and feeling the glide each time rather than quick turns/stops of the handle. Quick turns get the bait to dart side to side harder, while pushing the handle more softly gets a smoother but less sharp turn in the glide.
  12. I've noticed this as well. To fix this, go to the SU home page before you search and the search will look through all forums instead of just a particular one.
