We had a really late start to the spring Bass season here in Western mass. It was literally still snowing a couple weeks ago. I've been grinding trying to get my first good one of the season and I finally landed her on Monday. I got her on a Phat Pats 4 Piece next to a rocky bottomed dock area. She hit it like a freight train about 4 cranks in. She ended up going 6lbs 13oz!

Just about everything out here in The Berkshires of western Mass has finally thawed and i've been dying to fish. Got out with a good friend sunday and had a blast. Decided to fish a shallow pond because of the water temps. Place gets really difficult to fish as summer comes with the weeds. I threw a Pat's Perch all day and stuck 4. Couple dinks and one that was just shy of 4lbs and one that was just over 5lbs. I am so happy to be back at it again!

Nice fish Max..We have a bunch here too and they have hit my deps 175 a few times. I fish the Housatonic river a bunch and I know it flows down into CT and out to the ocean there. All I've seen is trout fishing on it in CT though. Not sure if it gets deeper and has ponds like up here in western Mass. Not sure if you've ever heard of it

Size is not a true indicator of age in Largemouth Bass. There are +10 pound bass that are less than 8 years old and bass under 5 pounds that are over 15 years old. There was a 19 year old Largemouth Bass that was caught in Montana a couple years ago and this bass was under 4 pounds
Location is a huge factor in size and age. Here in the Northeast it takes a fish a lot longer to reach 5 pounds than say, a CA fish.
