  1. Just so this doesn't get the guys thread locked,, free bump! And I'll be contacting Wes the poster with a possible offer on a bait he wants,, I honestly don't even want the damn thing anymore.
  2. Hahhhhh!!! I WISH that were the truth brother! I've been making baits longer than a lot of the "skinny jeans" guys on here have been fishing! Btw,, good one Caezar, can't agree more on that one. Anyways,, I hope I didn't just make myself sound old as hell, even though I guess reality suggests it's gonna happen at some point. Whether it's swimbaits or anything else, products do indeed take time to make, it's absolutely a process,, however I can't accept that to be the case in this instance. These things absolutely do not take that long to kick out. I've recently got into the swimbait making game, so I do kinda think I have somewhat of an insight here. What I think the issue is,, these damn pre-paid signup lists a mile long!!! When someone is prepaid, there's extremely little motivation to get their orders out. That's a fact. If you bait makers out there want to dispute this,, come at me with fact,, not some BS opinion or feeling. People are getting sick of your excuses. Look at the makers who do take payment, and the ones who don't. The demand is equally great on their products. I've personally NEVER taken payment before shipment. I'm sitting on thousands of dollars of orders rt now, and that's fine, I'll get paid when people have the confidence their baits are due to arrive. Do I have orders that have been waiting, sure, absolutely, but guess what those people feel a heck of a lot better knowing their $$$ isn't sitting somewhere, "hoping" I get around to it. It's a lot like a taxidermist taking all the money up front, vs. half. Believe me, I've heard all the arguments, I've seen it first hand. There's a way to do it, that works,, and then there's all the other ways. I'm personally sitting in limbo with HUNDREDS of $$$$ out on a couple baits, ordered last year, I can only hope will arrive, one day... Should I know better?absolutely!!! And believe me, this old stubborn bastard has learned from this, and will not be doing this again. Wanna know what sucks worse than all your money tied up,, constantly seeing guys posting pics of freshly obtained baits that you've been waiting on!!! So before you're quick to jump on one of those lists, heed this advice, pay with paypal business ONLY, and have in writing an greed time of delivery,, it'll greatlyassist you in filing your claim. Sorry for the guys in the same boat.
  3. I woke up this morning with zero intentions on buying such an awesome bait like a trap, or anywhere near as expensive as one either!!! Lol Matthew is a great guy, took a lot of time to explain the details about it, never made me feel like I was wasting his time, or like I was a tire kicker. Offered me a great deal I'd be crazy to pass up! I've been ooogling over these for too long now, time to pull the trigger,, and yes, I'm gonna use the poop outta this thing, like it deserves to be! Matthew also helped with some ideas on the rod I'm going to build now just so I can cast it! Haha Thanks Matt,, and as always thanks SU!
  4. Hey Brad, since you're asking what produces "the most bites", I'd first suggest you take everyone's opinion here, who resides out of your area, for what it is. An opinion, just a lil info to get you started in the right direction with your research. I receive and witness tons of advice given on here from guys in one part of the country, in a totally different area with very different conditions. Some of it universal, a majority isn't, I've fished all over, from West coast to East, a lot of variations in baits and tactics. And since you're asking about "most" bites, I'd also consider the difference between quantity and quality in your choice. I wouldn't recommend a big 6ish ounce glide to start out with, unless you've already worked your way up to the larger profile baits, established the confidence along the way. I've personally never thrown a Mother, so my opinion of it shouldn't really count. I just think it's a bait in its own class, a *specialty bite perhaps, and you should absolutely take into account when considering it, that the majority of its success is usually related to SoCal reservoirs, and similar water. I actually just purchased my first Mother,, and now I'm in the process of ordering a blank and building components so I can even fish it... hahhh! Personally, if I wanted to get good numbers, with the chance of some quality mixed in as well, I'd get a deps 175 or the Negotiator. Both of which have personally caught me more and bigger fish than the 250. At least for myself, the 250 is a specialty bait, very limited use for where and how I fish. I get a ton of people from all over the country on my boat, some with 250s, and similar profile baits, who quickly figure out they're just not a universal tool. Im not bashing the 250, just saying as far as my personal go to baits are concerned, it's not in the top ten.
  5. I'm sure there's a lot of tricks out there, maybe we should start a thread for that, haha. If only she hadn't taken that morning dump rt before... Oh well, it was the first 9.15 I've ever caught, so she'll just be special that way, usually they're several ounces off and you don't feel as let down, lol! But that is one thing I'd like to point out with the x-tools, in rough or shakey conditions it'll give you a fast accurate read,, some of the others will take forever or hardly at all in less than ideal conditions.
  6. I agree! Sometimes even the Magic Man gets no love from his scale! Haha I should've left the bait in her mouth, prob only a tenth of an ounce extra would've been the dif!
  7. I wouldn't "repair" that mess. I suggest fixing it Gary. What the heck is that skinny noodle looking thing coming from the butt section...? That's a first I've never seen before. I'd rebuild the handle/butt section if it were mine, basically fabricating a handle ext., and seeing how your blank is missing, thats the best choice . And you can do it from the bottom forward pretty inexpensively, and it'll be done the correct way.
  8. Cul-em-rite for dead nutz accuracy. I do prefer my x-tools though,, getting increasingly hard to find. The Brecknell is prob one of the only ones I haven't tried. You can always go drop the coin and get a food-grade commercial scale... Are you starting your own tournament circuit or something??
  9. Few new catches,, thanks to the help of some good guys out there!
  10. C'mon guys,, somebody grab this reel, it's in pristine condition! Great guy to deal with, just got some baits from Matt, fast shipping and baits were better than expected! If I had a new righty I'd trade him!
  11. $155 $5 higher than I got my last one on here,, c'mon pickle
  12. Well maybe it's time you guys give up on dreams of waiting in line, hoping to pay HUGE prices over retail on certain baits, focus on others, you might even find that they work better, look better, more available, and more affordable... Unless you're a collector, not really intending on actually using it for it's purpose, then good luck on finding that special color of pink, certain model of a certain year...
  13. Wow,, Wayne,, now that's a bundle of great information! I watched all of Jason's tests conducted on his line of clothing, and yea the Toray is amazing stuff,, far surpassing other company's standards. Fishing can definitely generate situations where you'll notice the difference rt away in a high quality piece of material,, but while hunting big game, the best quality gear is not a compromise, self generated moisture can mean the difference between a memorable experience or one you'd rather soon forget! Guys can learn from other's experience, or insist on doing things their own way. I was the guy that insisted on learning my own way for too long, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. When it comes to rain gear, I didn't just happen upon where I'm at now, spent a couple thousand along the way. Had all that stuff, the Cabelas guidewear, the bass pro 100mph, frog togs, and all the wanna-be knock off "breathable" stuff. Some of it was good for a lil while, some didn't last long at all, and a lot sucked immediately! Do it right the first time and be done, save more $ in long run. After 5 grueling hunts on my KUIU, including a 13 day caribou hunt in Alaska, where it rained every single day, my gear looks and performs as they day I got it! May not have all the fancy fu-fu colors, but oh well, the wet look is not for me! Lol Another good brand is Sims, but again it'll cost ya.
  14. Them are some beautiful bronze backs buddy, I'm jealous! Get a rare one every great once in a while at Clear Lake, but definitely not action like that!
  15. Right on man, if only there were more involved dads out there. Fishing definitely saved me from going down the bad path, as I'm sure it may have for many of us. Congratulations Kevin!
  16. It's not going to be easy, there's very limited shoreline access for the most part. Better take some type of personal defense also, my preference, Glock 22! Lol Shoot me a text or call, I'll see what I can do to help out man
  17. Awesome guy to do business with! Thanks Joe
  18. KUIU. It'll be the last piece of rain gear you own. Primarily began as a company specializing in hunting gear, now they offer their clothing in non-camo colors. I have a ton of their gear, owning high quality stuff comes with a price tag, but if it can keep up with you and serve you many years, it's worth the extra in the long run. They have offer different lines, depending on your intent, I recommend their "chugach" set. I have had mine for three years now, have used it in numerous western states from California, Colorado, to Alaska, every wet climate from warm archery season in CA to frosty downpours in CO. I wear mine on the boat also, zero complaints! I implore you to give them a look. They do the most extensive testing imaginable, their rain gear is near 5X more waterproof than GoreTex, and far more breathable. Very lightweight and extremely packable! Good luck.
  19. The casino hotel has turned into a total dump! Rooms are decent, and launch ramp is ok,, aside from that... no bueno. They started letting all the local rif raff have access to their docks to crappie fish, imagine having several dozen CL regulars all over the docks,, don't dare leave anything on your boat that's not bolted or welded down! Actually, I take that back, I've heard of several guys getting their rod lockers busted into, glove boxes raped, and garbage tossed in,, one nice family had their boat used as an outhouse... yup, turds on the carpet are not cool. And the parking lot is a whole nother story... Good luck to anyone going there. There are however some really nice lil resorts scattered around the lake, very comparable rates too, just find one on the end of the lake you're planning to fish on. This time of the year can have extremely unpredictable weather, CL is the home of many claimed boats, prob even has the record, I used to live near the Ocean, CL can be the worst water to navigate during high winds, make the ocean seem like nothing.
  20. I'd pull them out, then set them on a lil bed of epoxy, before they're just gone altogether. You had another shad wrapped a while back, looked good,, same guy? I think they go after the action and profile more than anything anyway,, I catch fish while swim testing plain white ones, they just don't catch fishermen as well...
  21. Hmm... I'll be shocked if those eyes stay in place more than a few casts, they just seem to have a lot of cavity under them. No offense, but I'm sure it'll be taken as,, but I'd be extremely disappointed if that were my bait. I'm working on a foiled version of a shad rt now, it's the first that I've put any kind of real effort into, and it's surprisingly easy to make look really good. But if that's the look it's intended to have, I'm way off...
