  1. I have searched the internet and did a lot searches here as well. I am really looking for someone with recent personal experience. Thanks
  2. I was wondering about safety. Anyone with first hand experience in the recent past?
  3. Thinking of taking a trip to Mexico to fish for some giant bass. I just wanted to get some input from those that have been. Which lake, what time of year and approx. cost that sort of thing. Any other things you wish you knew before you went. Thanks in advance for all your responses.
  4. I have a Gheenoe 13 ft. It is really stable. Not sure if it is big enough for 3. They do have other models all are square backed. You can take a look at their website Ghennoe.net. I don't know if you could find one in your area or not but they should be in your price range
  5. no It says coming soon on Working Class Zero website
  6. Very lucky in this country on doubt, but don't know if I can go with the above. That's crazy talk!
  7. You could buy one of those handheld infrared temp sensors from Home depot or Lowe's for around 20 bucks. Just put the red dot on the water and you get a digital readout of the temp
  8. I am definitely up for this. I live in Houston but I could make the drive up every now and then. I would love to do something like this around the Houston area.
  9. Just wondering if anybody has done this? My idea is to clip off the bottom hook on treble or find double hooks to replace trebles with. I was thinking that the hook.would ride up and tuck in against the side of the bait with no bottom hook to snag on the bottom or wood. One of my spots is loaded with laydowns. I thought this might cut down on my hang ups. Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts. Thanks
  10. ScummyBadger love your boat, but it looks like too much boat for me. I was asking about LUV-2-CATCH'EM and the boat that he downsized from the Skeeter. It has a Bass Cat logo on the back but have never seen that model anywhere. I suspect it is a DIY of an older boat. I would love to have any details on it. It looks perfect for my style of fishing
  11. Love the Bass Cat. Can you give me some details on it? Year model ext.... It looks like exactly like what I am looking for. Thanks for posting
  12. Does anyone use Taptalk to access this forum? I can't find swimbait underground listed in the Taptalk app. I wonder what it would take to get it activated. Thanks in advance for your input
  13. Great reads guys. I actually have the book Tracking Texas Trophies. I really enjoy trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible about Big Bass. I try when fishing to relate the big fish I catch to stuff I have read and I really think it helps me interpret things that help me in the hunt for the next one. Thanks for sharing
  14. I am a Falcon fan living in Houston, TX now. So the Texans are my adopted team since they are what is on the tube here most.
  15. I have read through most of the post here about which line to use. I noticed most of them are a little dated. My question is I am thinking about using braid for Hudd's and S Wavers, just for sensitivity. I would use a mono leader connected with a blood knot. I know a lot of people have concern about casting baits off. Is this still the current thinking or have things changed. I got the idea from Matt Allen at Tactical basin. Matt uses braid for everything and I really do like the sensitivity of braid. A penny for your thoughts.
  16. Hi Guys, Just thinking about getting into making softbaits. If I wanted to make a mold of an existing soft swimbait what product would you guys go with, casting sand, plaster of paris, alumilite Vac 50? Also if pouring over a frame like in a "Hudd type bait" how do you keep the frame centered? Thanks in advance for your help
  17. Thanks for all the nice comments! Also thanks to everyone who post on the board that has helped me learn a lot!
  18. Very Timely post. I just saw a video with Mike Gilbert had one with the Swimbait Underground logo on it. You have inspired me to try this myself. If I can get my better half to loan me her sewing machine!
  19. I posted the pic yesterday but it seems to have disappeared. Here it goes again
  20. I am new to the swimabait game. Before the other day I had only caught swimbait fish on an S-waver 120. I snuck off Thanksgiving afternoon where I had caught some big fish before. I decided that I was going to dedicate the afternoon to fishing the Hudd. I wasn't confident enough to throw the full 8 inch Hudd so I went with the 68 special in Rainbow trout. The pond was really low due to drought in the area. I started working an old creek channel. I was using a retrieve that I had seen in a Matt Allen video just as slow as I could work it, just enough to get the tail to kick. I started catching fish almost right away and after a couple hours had 5 anywhere from 1 1/2 pounds to 4 max. I decided to work a little deeper water close to the dam. I made a long cast and the bait seemed to not sink as fast as usual. I took up the slack felt the weight and set the hook hard. I started grinding the fish as quick as possible keeping my rod low to keep her from jumping. When I first saw color on the fish I knew she was close to my PB. I didn't have a scale or measuring tape. I used fishing line to get length and girth to measure later. I just want everyone to know that the fish in this pond have never seen a trout and also it is a small body of water less than 5 acres. So if you don't think fish in a non trout fishery will eat a trout imitating swimbait I am here to tell you they will. Also I was throwing the 68 on a Lexa with 25b flouro and a 6 foot ugly stick. So get what gear you can afford and just throw swimsuits they will pay off. I have an Okuma rod in the mail right now because my gear was definitely not optimal. Back to the fish. She measured 26 inches in length and 19 in girth. I am gonna try and attach a pic. It isn't good because I had to prop my phone up and take a video. The lighting was terrible so I clipped out one still photo. Thanks for everyone's post on the video that have help me learn what I have so far.
