  2. Hey guys good on you for starting and making something with your own hands. It’s a great feeling catching on your own baits. But I would agree about the selling. I have been making my own baits for over 6 years. Just barely started selling certain ones. The most important thing to a bait is catching fish. Handful of guys on here and else where always posting baits, but have never posted swim vids or any catches. Don’t work that way. Go out and fish the crap out of it. Catch the piss out of fish and learn what you got and what needs to be adjusted. Give some away for testing. I can’t even count how many baits I’ve given away. Spent countless hours and money. Resin, prototype lips, hardware, clear coat, stickers and some t shirts in last 3 weeks. I’m out almost $1000. My main bait I sell was the first one I ever did. And I’m on gen 3 of the body. Take your time. Don’t rush it because you want money. It will only diminish what people think of your baits. If I can help answer any questions let me know. And there are plenty of good dudes on here that will help you out. Just ask. Good luck guys.
  3. Had someone ask about goldfish patterns. So decided to lay it down on a deep diver! who else is messing with goldfish? Hahaha I think it needs a little black around gills but overall I think I got the colors pretty solid. Yellow and gold, orange and gold. IMG_3946.MOV
  4. It can help with being more stealthy in clear water. Up against bait less for fish to see. Especially when combined with feathered hook.
  5. Thanks guys. Appreciate the support!
  6. Posting some up tomorrow on my Instagram.
  7. Cheap carving tool. Just cut into body a bit.
  8. Painting up the first batch of shads today. Will be available through my Instagram if anyone interested. Hoping to have them posted up next week. Waiting for some new slaps to arrive. Baits will include new sticker. G$65 shipped Blunt Customs
  9. Working on fine tuning the shads. Messing with weight placement right now. Already caught lots of fish on em during testing.
  10. Well been working on some deep divers. Shads are running 11-12 on copoly and mono. Lil deeper with flouro. Waiting for a few guys testing them to see what kind of depth they get with flouro. Trying to get to the 15ft mark. Had a carp body laying around and this morning decided to cut a lip slot and put a big ol lip in. Going to the lake tomorrow to test it. Hopefully it gets down there to the big girls!
  11. Nice swim! Will for sure get murdered by some tanks!
  12. Yeah this is a bait I’ve been making for years now without lip. So I’ve already balanced it and with lip they both swim great with same weighting. But was really surprised by the dive with this lip angle. My first thought was the same as you and azsouth stated. More buoyant and smaller lip. thank you for the help.
  13. I’m assuming the lip sticking out from sides of head are grabbing water and might be causing some dive. But I set that lip at almost straight vertical. More testing, than some more testing after that. Lol
  14. Pics of lip on wake. I just grabbed a lip I had around from one of my rats. Will be using a smaller one to fit the head width better. This was a bait I already had. It’s a floater but if I add 2 #7 split shots it will be a rof 1-2. Next test will be with a higher float to it. thanks for the reply
  15. Yeah I’ve used the rustoleum a good amount on personal baits. Funny thing some react to soft plastic some have not at all. Not sure why.
  16. Decided to add some lips to my shad bait. Was waiting for some resin to set and figured, let’s tinker. Deep diver is hitting 9-10 feet about. Great swim, nice head shake like a crankbait but with the back sections kicking behind it. Only took 5 cast with it on first day out to get one. Smallie liked it, so do I!!!! Have a question tho. Did up the wake lip and it still dives a bit. What have you guys experienced with placement of weight in relation to lip, head and such to keep it waking? Weight in front of lip. Just behind or farther back? Also questioning the width of lip where it attaches to head. And the height from top to bottom. Is a shorter or taller lip better for the wake? I’m assuming shorter. I tried to make lip angle straight up and down to keep it waking but still goes just subsurface. Any ideas are appreciated. Keep up the grind grass roots peeps!!
  17. Thank you. Yeah nothing better than them blowups! Boom!
  18. Mmm yes! Couldn’t agree with you more!
