  1. Not into painting hooks myself but if I did I'd use Rust-Oleum 2x. Got a variety of finishes it's a combo primer that sticks and goes on thicker than most
  2. Should get some interesting responses on this. I tend to downsize things myself, but there are limits. 100 class casters are not built to throw beyond maybe 3-3.5oz or so. Then you’re moving up to 150/200 throwing maybe 6-7oz max and that’s it. These are extremes by the way, and both assuming you only throw braid or forget about it.
  3. Believe it or not this has been law since probably around the 50's or thereabout. Different wording I'm sure, but same principle. It matters to law enforcement, but IRS doesn't care how you make your money. They just want to take it from you and penalize you if you fail to give it to them. Look, I'm just gonna say it, all you dudes loving the leech paypal are going to regret it. Every single transaction no matter who, what, when, or where is reported. It's digital print, which remains forever. If you think using Friends & Family to avoid taxation is smart, while simultaneously listing your public buying and selling intensions on the open internet, I urge you to go back to school. And stay there. You aren't hiding anything. Makes no difference to me mind you, just understand what you're walking into
  4. 100% guarantee fish not seeing baits helps the bite. Fish learn by repetition yet forget as quickly by lack thereof It's rare any given water here is closed for duration. Day or two, that happens, but duration over several months due to any cause is something special. I and others I know have had all world type days hitting known waters soon after a reopening. It's a lock. Yes, not seeing baits does reset their little brains.
  5. Up to 3 you're fine throwing 15lb. I've thrown 8's with 20lb no worry. Keep your line fresh, be careful with knots
  6. They only stay near if they have to acclimate to the concentration of dissolved oxygen
  7. Respectfully, simply throwing what others do not does not make a lot of sense in this situation. But fishing a different spot does. Few anglers are hard enough for a trek so get to stepping. And if you want to really see then get high. Not THAT high lol but rather a hill and take a look. And bring binoculars. You might even see where the Trout are. Those stockers are used to their school, they'll stick together, and you can bank they won't settle where they drop.
  8. Interesting.... Well, my conscious is getting the best of me here and though I don't wanting to step on toes I'm compelled to share my experience. Interstate batteries are manufactured in Mexico. Not a quality issue, per se, but made in bulk, shipped in bulk, stored here in bulk by distributers, distributed to retailers where it could be stored yet again. It's not uncommon for an Interstate battery to be 2 years old before you even put it in your boat. Currently even more so given backlogged items shipped and material and supply issues all over the planet thanks to China. Fair warning.
  9. No magical fix guys. If it's going that way odds are it will continue so any fix is liable to be temporary. It's known that on some of these there was a bad spray, or perhaps simply botched prep. Some guys have no trouble at all, others do, and you two are among those that do. But the reel itself is quality, worth keeping, and you could have it painted however you want. This would take your game to the next level and this is a perfect excuse. Otherwise just fish it.
  10. Yes. And I'm not a fan of rotating hangers, though they offer no comparable weight disadvantage since they are built in by design. But if rotating hangers, or hooks, were an advantage we would probably see every decent bait made employ one or both of these features and we don't. To me that's telling. Again, just my opinion.
  11. Not used, but offering word of caution here. In my experience with swivel line tie treble handful of years back the concept was a miss for me. I tried it, didn't like it. For starters the hooks were heavy in comparison, as this one appears to be, but worse yet hookup ratio was compromised. If the fish eats it then fine. Otherwise you'll probably be disappointed. The swivel concept is designed to keep fish on. This makes sense what with thrown hooks and all I'm sure most would agree. But keeping fish on is not the same as getting fish on where this design tends to suffer. Just my opinion
  12. Just a do good for you cats, short story 209 is 30 minutes out for me. I don't know this dude, but if a member is on the fence to trade I'm willing to mediate transaction. I've zero interest in the bait myself, but admit I would rather enjoy seeing it in person. So if any established member is liking this but not willing to jump I offer the following 1. You strike your own deal will OP 2. You PM me when a deal is struck and inform details 3. I'll share cell # will both of you for 3 way communication 4. I'll take receipt of incoming trade goods 5. I'll drive to meet OP and hand deliver the trade I don't care if you don't trust me. If you don't then so be it. But if you do, and if my offer appeals to you, I'm willing to help and I ask nothing in return. I'd just kind of like to see the bait is all. Oh, but I will not ship it. I don't want the responsibility. I will, however, bring it to a local postal annex where they offer ups/fedex and packaging/packing services. That expense is on you and I'm not willing to front. I'll bring it, provide your contact details, see to it you speak with an employee, watch them pack it, and text you photos of your incoming shipment. All you need is to be available for contact and a credit card to pay for shipment. I'm just curious more than anything I guess and I happen to be around that 209 every couple of weeks anyway. That bait is insane, I know only one dude who actually owns one but he moved out of state so I'll never see it. But maybe I can here, so if you want then sort it out and send me PM if you might like my help. Cool
  13. I don't know man, wasn't going to say anything, but for me backpacks are no go. Not with big baits anyway. I can't stand balance issues casting from precarious position be it loose rock or silt soil or scattered roots or weeds on incline it's not worth the risk. I've known of guys who have slipped and died on site from cracking their head open on rocks right under their feet. You need to be secure, balanced, fatigue free. Get a bag with a single shoulder strap that way no matter what you drop the bag before casting. It's just as easy to transport, just drape the strap over your head and rotate the bag toward your back.
  14. This ^^^ lot of pressure on that unwound portion where the spooled portion shares displacement.
  15. In my experience the stuff is awesome. And I generally am NOT a fan of fluorocarbon. You're right where you need to be with the 25lb for throwing pretty much whatever. I typically spool 20lb, but do not throw larger than low 6's with it and it's held up. Stay smart, retie like you should, and if it frays even a little then cut it or live with regret.
  16. Good question. And I been sitting on this long enough. Look, any vibration coming from anything moving is energy lost as previously mentioned. And any bearing supplier will list ABEC Rating so look it up. Higher the number, tighter the tolerance, and it does indeed matter. The real question here is if it matters enough to you, a reasonable way to consider this debate, though useless to those who have not used them. Truth is, the difference between ABEC 5 and ABEC 9 rating at the spool is eye opening. Less vibration, less noise, greater distance capability. Side by side this is undeniable.
  17. 350 is a flaming deal and these things are getting hard to find. I'd be all over it but can't justify little history. Nothing personal to OP, been burned too many times is all. I'm hesitant to even bring it up, seller certainly comes across legit, but that's the only reason I can think of. The reel is way worth it though
  18. Just more Democratic red tape. Keep your original receipt or proof of purchase (digital or printed) and deduct acquisition expense from sale proceed.
  19. You're not likely to get much feedback on this. Short story; I have no idea. Long story; there are gobs of aftermarket spools but probably few, if any, for your particular reel. You're probably best off getting what you see and being done with it. Good luck.
  20. Never done this but do know you will need an exit port to accommodate expansion. One extra hole won't hurt, opposite end of entry should do the trick
  21. Avoid flat side profile. It catches too much current. Rounded profile is best. Think width over height. Sometimes adding ballast helps but you’ll have to experiment. Every detail adds up. Beyond this sometimes you just have to avoid current. You either find a way to work within it or you find a way to work around it. But you can’t beat it.
  22. I know what I think, but I'll save detailed honesty for now.
  23. WOW whoever gets this I sure hope they appreciate it this is something very special right here
