  1. I'm back.....what a great time...got rained on, was cold but just a blast. I threw the Punker as much as I could stand it...only had one blow up....ONE...but it was a good ONE.....I over reacted and pulled it too fast..no other takers. Switched to the Hudd 68 got nibbled a few times repeatedly and one really good bump actually a smack.. but no hook up...must be me. I fished up and down hill, across points but I couldn't seem to hook one up. Beautiful lake.....cold weather...and yes I did catch some fish...just all on jigs.
  2. Arrived in Redding today.....we just missed a pretty major storm...fished a few hours this afternoon....no Punker fish...darn...we did catch a few cranks and worms late...cold.
  3. I will return on the 27th of Dec....I will let you know how I did...storming like a wild mule gettin stuck in the butt with an antibiotic up there right now...lake is filling...my dad says the locals aren't even fishing it's raining so hard.
  4. Austen...usually that is what I do 6lb test and catch numbers occasionally a 3lber..This year I'm flinging 20lb.ccx and a few big bites... Although my first time with a Punker..
  5. Some really good points...trout do live...exist and swim/glide in that cold water...injured planter trout... I like that....I'm stoked can't wait. I do believe I can get them to come after my Punker and get a hook sandwich. I'm putting a red and green hook on for Christmas for em.. Thanks again to all of you for helping me....I'll keep you posted.
  6. One of your top ten..awesome I will be on the hunt for those warming fish...I am prepared to throw and throw and throw some more.....I will eventually connect. I believe they will smack the Punker if all is right.
  7. This is all really good stuff.....I just think if I can be successful with the Punker in Winter and work technique the rest of the year should get better for me... For me I would rather fish with half of a banjo minnow than Drop Shot. MagicMan points well taken...thanks...thanks to all of you for your help and info...I am now more determined. I will be fishing a few days so both the 68 and the Punker will be put to the test. I am leaving everything else home, I don't want to be tempted to fish something else. I'll see if it pays off....cheers!
  8. thanks to you all....it helps I will be fishing my new Punker over Christmas...I am only taking 2 rods..Hud 68 and Punker
  9. drop shot......I'll go ahead and throw the Punker.
  10. I know it will not be easy...but the heart of my question is has anyone of you caught fish on a Punker in the winter? I know the fish will ultimately decide, I just don't want to spend my time fishing a bait that the fish are not likely to smack. I'm willing to put in the effort but I don't know enough about the Punker especially in the winter.
  11. Thanks....did you catch many in 42-45 degrees? Was the cadence slow? intermittent? I am guessing the water temp will be somewhere in the mid 40's low 50s but won't know till I get there. I just love the movement of the Punker and I am hoping the Winter bass will too...
  12. Who of you Punker aficionados can divulge Winter fishing with a Punker...I am headed North for Christmas. I will be fishing for bass....Specifically I will be going to 2 Lakes, Shasta and Whiskeytown. I just got a wood Punker trout and want to try it out but don't know all the uses. Is Winter a good time to throw the Punker or should I leave it home and fish something else? I did a search on fishing a Punker in the Winter but didn't come up with much. I really want to learn this bait and catch a fish on it especially a big spot. I read one guy never leaves home without his Punker. I just think the action would be good in the Winter. Am I on the right track?
