Congrats on your first DD! Especially with a 12+. If it was a floater the next day, too bad. As was noted above, big fish are really stressed by handling and easily become next-day floaters. It happens in Arizona fairly frequently. All you can do is handle fish well and hope for the best. (Duh! Nothing more boring than restating the obvious.)
