  1. I have had good luck with a purple nitro slammer and a perch colored triple trout. This one came out of the Kennebec River up in Maine this spring. Good luck!
  2. Damn, nice striper! Thanks for the tips everyone!
  3. Hey everyone, Headed down to the canal this weekend and I was wondering if anyone has ever had luck throwing slammers in here? I know the current is crazy strong and jigs are usually the way to go but just curious to see if anyone has had any experience/luck?
  4. I have had issues all summer long in both Maine and MA. In Maine the fish all headed down deep to the cooler water and I think the fish in MA have done the same. I caught a PB smallmouth last night in MA in the shallows but it was my only big fish all summer. Hopefully we get some rain/cooler weather soon.
  5. Thanks! I caught it on a 130 Whopper Plopper. I don't consider it a swimbait but I have seen them mentioned on here from time to time.
  6. Went fishing last night at a local lake in MA and set a new PB Smallmouth.
  7. With the weekend about to arrive, what is everyone's go to bait? I just got a X3 Slammer so I am hoping to break it in on a few Maine smallmouth. Tight lines everyone!
  8. Thanks guys! Really appreciate it - I will be sure to check the pinned thread.
  9. Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone has a few suggestions for beginner baits for someone who is just getting into swimbaits. Thanks!
  10. New to the swimbait world as well - welcome!
  11. Up in Maine I throw a lot of size 5 Mepps and have caught plenty of smallmouth on them - usually burning them in works best as the water is on the murkier side (Kennebec River) so I think the vibrations caused by the large blade draws them in. On the flipside I have seen pike follow glide baits in but I have never seen one caught on them. Sounds like a new goal for this fall.
  12. Hey everyone, Finally getting into the swimbait game and thought it would be a good idea to join this community. After getting introduced to swimbaits this spring by Swimbaitman, I decided to take a break from the Mepps and try something new. Went fishing today in Danvers and caught my first glide-bait fish on a Gancraft 178. Looking forward to catching more next weekend! Looking forward to becoming a more active member here and working towards a new PB this fall. Take it easy!
